Nobody is the next Madonna.

Plus I never really considered Taylor Swift a pop star until 1989. So this is like her true debut as a pop star.

You're delusional if you don't believe the article. Taylor is running things right now.

Numerically is about the only similarities ... In just about every other way they are completely different.

like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. My words give a clue, look inside to see whats true

You're clearly delusional.

Taylor's albums are the only albums that sell more than 1,000,000 in one week. NO other pop girl is doing that, and no other pop girl will probably do that in a long time.

She has been extremely relevant for a decade now. Take your delusion elsewhere.

she is successful but has no impact #poordat

How so? considering Taylor's first 5 albums did as well as Madonna's first 5 albums... And that's in the current sales climate which is way lower than the one in the 80s.

Taylor has been around for almost a decade now and she's still on top.

Taylor has had a lot of success in the past, but she was never really at the forefront of pop culture until 1989. People seem to rise to the top of superstardom and then fall from it rather quickly. 4 years ago Gaga was the Madonna of our generation. 2 years ago, arguably, Miley was. Pop queens today, in my opinion, don't really have the longevity to be considered the 'next Madonna'. No one seems to be able to stick around long enough.

What about the sold-out stadium shows? The record-breaking music videos? The attention she gets from simply pulling out from a streaming company?

They're different because one relies on her s-xual imagery and controversy to sell her music and the other doesn't have to use gimmicks to get a #1 album.

Right, and next year someone else will. That's how it goes in the music world today.

And beyond numbers, Taylor and Madonna couldn't be any different. Comparing both is extremely superficial and demonstrates quite a big lack of knowledge.

They literally have nothing in common aside from being able to sell music like crazy. Madonna was defined by being super revolutionary, cutting edge, boundary pushing and influential. Taylor lacks all of those qualities to be quite honest. No disrespect to Taylor, she seems like a sweet girl, but comparing her to Madonna is delusional, misled and lazy.

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

They are opposite artists. Madonna used s-x and controversy to sell, Taylor is super wholesome. Madonna runs towards controversy, Taylor avoids it. Madonna is aggressive, Taylor is kind. They both reached the top and slayed, but using different approaches.

Taylor could potentially be bigger than Madonna as she is only 25 and Madonna did not slay until she was 26 with Like A Virgin. Also, Michael Jackson was immensely huge during Madonna's peak and kind of overshadowed her. Who is overshadowing Taylor now? The male singers of Taylor's generation are awful and she is grotesquely outselling them, singles, albums and ticket sales wise.

Madonna has had amazing longevity and while Taylor has been incredibly successful for almost 10 years, she has a long way to go. But has been consistently and only getting bigger and international with each album, so Taylor is not done dominating. At all.
