Gaga, for sure.

However, Taylor may not have reached her global peak...yet. With her change over to 100 per cent pop, I could see her having an even bigger peak with her next era.

Gaga, obviously. She had the global sales, the impact, she was a game changer. It took Taylor 4 albums before she finally started sussing out how to make a dent worldwide whereas Gaga had the world in the palm of her hand with her debut. I'm not going to listen to anyone who says "But Taylor started out country and country doesn't sell worldwide" because any kind of music can sell if you promote it right. Besides, country artists like Dolly and Shania have their global fans too. Taylor was too happy being in America, the country that made her, to try harder at first. It's hard to believe but even after all she's achieved, some people still don't know who Taylor is. A lot of the adults in my family who basically listen to nobody current and barely listen to music, know who Gaga is, but they don't know who Taylor is (except for my dad, he won't stop singng SIO, but just those 3 words, which is hell on earth for a Swift hater). Go anywhere in the world and just say "Gaga" and people will know who you mean. Gaga also has probably one of the best singles recall from the public, much more than the "hits" from a lot of her contemporaries.

You really think so? Considering that she already out-peaked her previous peak (Fearless), it suggests that she won't have any further to go from now on. Most artists only have one peak, some very lucky ones have two. But three? I can think of maybe 2 artists/bands that sold more with every release but they are once in a lifetime moments. Even some of her own fans are saying that she won't do better next time. Being a Gaga fan really educated me on how peaks work. I thought she'd outpeak TF/TFM with BTW, a lot of us did. She didn't. And then I looked back in history to find that most artists do not follow a peak with an even bigger peak, it's almost always an inevitable freefall after that. Taylor's courting the public too much right now to have another re-peak. Courting the public too much can turn them away just as quickly. Trends come and go, so if you follow them, you'll become old news fast. I've seen artists whose album was so of the moment and sold well, but their next one didn't. Because the public only hang around on a trend for one album, generally. Taylor fans are going to be in for a big shock in future years. Seriously.

Mister Gaga

The global one. Everyone knew who Lady Gaga was during her 2-year peak. I mean, she was literally everywhere. Poker Face, Paparazzi, Bad Romance, Telephone, Alejandro and Born This Way were ALL global smashes. Her videos, particulary Bad Romance and Telephone were all over the news, everybody was talking about her.

Shall i continue?

VMA 2009, Grammys 2010 and that ICONIC galactic outfit, THE MEAT DRESS (it has a wikipedia page. Taylor's clothes have one?), Grammys 2011 and the egg, the EVENT that was the release of BTW

Shall i continue?

Gaga's The Fame sold 16 million copies worldwide. 6.2 million were in the USA, 10 million overseas. Taylor biggest album outisde USA? 2.5 million. VMA for Video of the Year; fourth artist in history to be nominated three consecutive times to Album of the Year at the Grammy awards.

SHALL I CONTINUE?

I think Gaga's peak was bigger. I like Taylor, but she doesn't have as many iconic moments. No hairbow, meat dress, lightning bolt, Grammy vessel entrance or bubble dress. Also, a lot of Taylor's songs were only hits in the U.S. whereas Gaga's singles usually chart well worldwide.

I can't answer to this question at all. I just don't know the answer to it.

I want to give it to Gaga but I gotta be fair Taylor is pretty huge too, even her past country albums have sold massive amounts. :emma:

But talent-wise, LADY F U CKING GAGA.

gaga of course, go to GOOGLE TRENDS and check it out

Just did, also among Katy, Rihanna, and Madonna for good measure, from 2008 to now.

Gaga is the red line. Taylor is the purple line. (Rihanna is yellow, Madonna is blue, Katy is green)

The overall peak is undeniable. :whitney: No surprise that Taylor is currently the highest, though.

Mess at Gaga being dead last even at her 2015 peak.
