fact of the matter is that she makes awful music and isn't a nice person. What's to like?

she got by on her 80s 90s success during 00s. Now the hype train left the terminal. I don't care if she's in charge of her whole career... that's not working out too great for her is it?

she iin much of a dancer now, a hasn't really ever been. Her choreography has always verged on mediocre. Dancing doesn't mean anything when you're listening to the radio.

riding off her 80's and 90's succes in the 00's? She isn't a great dancer? Mediocre coreographies? Awful music? A bad person?

What's there to discuss in a unbiased way with you? That's the real queation... :bye:

Ok Diplo :fat: if you say so.

The true pioneers were Cher, Debbie Harry, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Donna Summer, Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, Gloria Gaynor, Janis Joplin, Bette-Midle, Liza Minnelli, Agnetha Fältskog and many others women pioneers in the music industry.

Erm yeah 'cause everybody every where talk about their huge contribution to The pop industry and are The biggest pop stars ever? They were great and all but NOWHERE near The level of Madonna. She did invent The  modern concept of pop star. She combined everything those women before her were into one package. You do realise that The Madonna and M Jackson level of fame was like all modern time pop stars combined? They were insanely huge! And yeah, they did invent The pop world we live in.

And Gaga combined what artists in both pop and rock world did before her into one package and she even did it better than some others.

And yes, people do talk about those artists and their contributions. They too deserve the credit.

Madonna single handedly redefined the meaning of pop stardom, she changed an entire industry and its wave of upcoming artists till this day. Such thing previously happened only once with The Beatles.

Not one of your randomly name dropped artists in that post has done that.

Madonna looked up to Debbie Harry because she was a female that happened to be the lead singer of her band (Blondie) in a world where boy bands dominated, because Madge herself was in a male dominated band(s) as well in the 70's. That is it.

If you're implying that sustaining a certain amount of hype for 3 decades is the norm then you must be delusional.

Madonna is a classically trained dancer that deliberately chose to perform structured choreographies.

And despite being twice older than the current wave of pop stars, she's still more energetic than they ever were.

Awful music? explain her Grammys and widespread acclaim. :fat:

Madonna was just next up to bat in the history of pop music. She was part of a long line of women contributing to pop and now the game is being changed by new girls. To those saying "there would be no Gaga without Madonna", well there would be no Madonna without a bunch of the women who came before just like in 10 years there would have been no " insert future pop girl" without Gaga. Although I do respect Madonna's contributions to pop, it's not like she ****ing invented it. The delusion here is real. Makes me wonder why some of you are even members on this site :saladga:

Why is it so hard to accept that Gaga was inspired, at least in part, by Madonna and that Madonna did have a huge effect on pop music for women as those before and after her? Why must people live in this bubble of only praising Gaga when Gaga herself praises other artists?

However, even with all that, no one creditable is saying that we have to worship Madonna even when she cranks out low quality work of recent times. There is no obligation to like any artist for any reason. I may respect Elvis' contributions to rock, but you don't see me buying any of his records.

So just because I'm saying Madonna does deserve respect for her contributions to pop doesn't mean you have to like her or any other artist that gets brought up on this site.  Obviously, people who play ridiculous games of petty politics with entertainment have too much time on their hands.

I disagree with Diplo that Madonna "created the world we live in" and I feel sorry for anyone who puts someone like that on a pedestal for anything more than they accomplished with their effort and talent.

Yes, but I was using your example in that Madonna was part of a long chain inspiring other women in music and the arts to refer to charges by others in the thread. Pardon me if it confused you.

Lol ahh got it now   I agree with everything you said. I think people need to acknowledge and accept that Madonna has been such a huge influence on pop culture, including on Lady Gaga, but they also need to accept that she herself is the product of a ton of other people before.
