Does Loving Gaga Makes You Feel Gay or Less of a Man?

Yes, whoever says otherwise is a lying.

If a "straight" man is a Lady Gaga fan, he's at least pleasured himself to gay **** or touched a penis at some point in his life. Again, any denial of that fact is a lie.

There are probably a lot more "closeted" straight fans out there than you think. I imagine many of them are aware of the stereotype and don't like to say positive things about Gaga or listen to her music in public to "fit in".

Probably most of the users here  belongs to the LGBT (no offence). And i think Im one of the few straight guys that loves and supports Gaga. Its always been an impression that if a guy loves Gaga then hes probably gay. I mean whats wrong with that? :sharon:

Fix that fu*kin title PLEASE:saladga:

If anything it makes you more of a man. Most men are afraid of strong women that don't fit the mold and I'm glad you don't.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

It bothers me when people give "perfect world" answers like "no we are all equal and therefore you are not less of a man".

The fact of the matter is, the straight people in this fanbase do feel judged both within and outside of the fanbase because it appears to many (I say appears because she actually sang "no matter gay STRAIGHT or bi") that Gaga has catered to and often solely caters to her gay audience.

To be honest, even here I sometimes see people being ridiculed, in a playful way obviously, because they are straight and being gay is the archetypal s-xual orientation of a Lady Gaga fan.

OP, I think we, as straight people, just have to deal with it because this isn't a perfect, accepting or judgment free world.

We can always remind the gays that any pop star with a majority of GLBT fans would be a niche act. It's the straight girls that make pop superstars.

Also straight fans are more likely to appreciate Gaga for independent reasons and as an unique individual -  not just because it's the thing to do for their demographic.

This is worth talking about and I'm glad this straight man brought it up. I agree that music is music and no matter your s-xual orientation, you can like whatever music you want. I have many straight friends - men and women - who enjoy Gaga and many other pop stars; however, I do think straight people, men in particular, move away from her or won't even consider her because of her politics. Think about how her politics resonates, sometimes even more so than her music - so much that she is made fun or put down in the media or by other pop stars. E.g. Eminem poorly makes fun of her in his music and his audience is mostly straight. This is unfortunate.

I am wondering: What makes Katy's music more open to straights? What keeps gay people from enjoying metal or alternative?

At at the end of the day, how she portrays herself is her choice. The audience she attracts somewhat does and has defined her; however, as she evolves, so does her audience.

So, even if her fan-base ist 75% LGBT and 25% hetero, it doesn't really matter, that fact is outside of her talent and why one may like her. Ask yourself, "is it about that or is it really just about the music and how it makes me feel?"

Gay people are assumed straight from birth. Baby boys smile at a girl and it's "Oh look he's flirting with you!", they go to school and it's "I think little Johnny has a girlfriend!", go to high school and they're asked "Do you have a girlfriend?" etc. etc.

Basically everyone is assumed straight until they either announce their orientation or very outwardly express it.

Straight fans, you can deal with people thinking you might be gay when you say you are a Gaga fan. Gay people have been dealing with people assuming they're straight their whole life. It's really not so bad.

Well, no. I mean, the fact that you love someone's music doesn't have ANYTHING to be with your s-xuality. Be sure about WHO YOU ARE, and f*ck what people thinks about it. You can love any artist you like. For example, I stand for Gaga cause her music makes me dance like crazy, and I love her as an artist.

Don´t worry.

I love Gaga and most of my str8 friends also like her and think she's badass. They usually like her attitude, music and even looks sometimes.

It's just that they're not obsessed like me lol, they don't care if she has an album out next month or if she just wore something crazy on the streets of Paris...

So what if people think you're gay for liking Lady Gaga? Own it.

Gay people are assumed straight from birth. Baby boys smile at a girl and it's "Oh look he's flirting with you!", they go to school and it's "I think little Johnny has a girlfriend!", go to high school and they're asked "Do you have a girlfriend?" etc. etc.

Have I ever told you, I love you?

My take on your first question is that with Katy, straights can fall back on "Well she's hot!" if they admit their a fan. It's not "gay" to be a "fan" of a girl because she's "got great tits and makes catchy songs." With Gaga, she is beautiful and has looks that have gone over well with straight guys, but her overall appearance, fashion, openly and loudly voiced political/societal stances, etc. make it hard for them to pull the "I'm a fan because she's hot and has catchy songs!" card.

It's obvious why gay people might have difficulty enjoying rap music, but when you bring up metal or alternative that does make me wonder too. Those genres don't generally have homophobic lyrics and from what I can tell the artists tend to be pretty pro-gay-rights themselves. Perhaps it's because those genres have never really marketed to gay crowds? I'd be interested in more discussion about this!

I don't want to be rude but this a atrocious stereotype, not because you like Gaga's music you're gay or less man, you're gay when you like d!cks and I don't think that makes me less man either. :neyde:
