Merkel: Marriage is between man and woman

I understand her. She comes from a different time period and she prefers traditional marriage (which is itself a silly term, considering "traditional marriage" is subjective to the culture --- same-s-x marriage was sacred to some Native American tribes, and ancient Athens featured same-s-x marriage opportunities alongside opposite-s-x marriage), but she didn't say anything hateful. The way she said this is respectful and I think her views should be respected. However, I am hoping Germany hops on the right side of history and legalizes same-s-x marriage nationally, and they won't get to that point with Merkel, who I honestly think is more indifferent than anything, but leans in favor of traditional marriage.

 Her party is called the Christian Democratic Union. A Christian party? I don't think she'll legalize the homos-xual marriage.

Only to keep the facts rights. There were no gay marriage in Ancient Greece. homos-xuality was still seen shameful there. Though gay s-x between a teacher and a student was okay to teach them.

When I think of Thatcher, Merkel, and Marine Le Pen, I can't help silently chuckling at all the leftwing feminists who think women in leadership will transform politics in some leftwing kinder gentler direction.

don't get too upstet about this.... it's just a political game.... right now she feels she cannot use the word marriage, and in a few years she will.... the same happened with Obama and Hilary.

The important thing is that Merkel, the most powerful woman in Europe, supports gay rights, and will continue to do so.

Idiotic. People don't vote for her stupid verbal concepts. That's her own personal crap that should not even be on the table on a political level. If she wants to argue semantics she can do that at home at the dinner table, in politics things are what they are.

Mundt is absolutely correct. If legally speaking the arrangement is the same, there shouldn't be any difference on a social level either. The only solution I can think of is to ban the word marriage in general.

So shes for gay rights and gay marriage but should just...call it something else?
