It will always be pop. She has pop music fans. She's not gonna release a punk album and market it to punk music fans lol. She's still Lady Gaga after all

In my opinion she shouldn't try to keep up with making dance pop. Maybe something like porcelain black. Something really edgy tbh. She shouldn't try to make songs like poker face or bad romance. She should try to incorporate her favorite parts of rock music into the music. And oh god it has to be super simple and catchy or nobody will like it because a song can't be catchy unless it repeats the same **** 50 times. :saladga:

g.u.y>>>>>>>>>porcelain black

and i dont even like g.u.y that much  :flower:

Pop (for those who believe in it as a genre and not simply as an adjective), jazz, rock, whatever...a genre is nothing but an aesthetical direction.

It's silly to try and think of any of them as a step forward or a step back...you can like one more than the other, sure, but it doesn't mean one is better than the other.

Put it in another scenario...think of visual arts. I can say, for example, that I like Renoir's paintings better than Picasso's, but I can't say that impressionism is a better or more legitimate art form than cubism, right?

It's the same with music.

So no, making pop music is not going backwards. What's going to define if the next album is a step back or forward is its quality - good lyrics, good melodies, less overworked production, more relatable themes, a more straightforward concept, those are the things that are going to set the next album as a step back or as a leap forward (at least in terms of artistic value).

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

Just because it's pop doesn't mean it'll be dancey or upbeat. There is a lot of things people can do with Pop.

Lady Gaga/ Madonna/Lana /Azealia Banks/ Jazmine Sullivan/ DEEE-LITE/ Moko

No she's a pop singer and will always be... You don't know what she's going to release but you can be sure Lady Gaga is going to put out something creative and different (even if it's pop)

While I would rather she went in a different direction, there is nothing wrong with pop music. It's very diverse. With that in mind however, I think some people considered ARTPOP to be a step backwards (not saying it's a bad album, but that seems to be the biggest criticism). If she went back that direction, or tried to recreate the sounds from TF or TFM I definitely think that, despite how awesome those sounds are, a lot of people would consider it a huge step backwards. It would therefore be best if she tried to go with a fresher sound. Maybe scramble up some pop/dance beats with a little funk/soul, or slap on a little punk on some House/Rave, or something. I would still love some rock, experimentation, or psychedelic vibes, but any mixture on an album will keep it interesting to the public.

That's my opinion anyway.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

If anything, C2C's fans should turn their 'high expectations' into an appreciation for her other albums. C2C wasn't a progression from her previous work, musically speaking, because she has always used her jazz background as a driving force behind her songwriting/pop albums. Making LG5 as a pop album isn't stepping backwards because she's got nothing to step backwards from - this talent, and these influences were always present, it's just that before there wasn't such an obvious link.

If she makes the album sound like any of her former albums then yes.

But if she produces a pop record with a new sound then no.

Her past albums are so different from each other in terms of sound that I think there's no such thing as "same vein as all her other pop albums". I've been saying this in every thread about the sound of music lol her next album: the base genre will most likely be pop, but she will give it a twist as she's been doing with all her past releases.

This. BTW is very different to TF/M and ARTPOP very different to BTW. The next one will obviously (or hopefully) be Pop but the direction and sound will be very different. I personally  expect her new album to have more acoustic and soul influences.
