Ash Vs. Evil Dead (Starz: Premieres 10/31)

Bruce Campbell made his triumphant return as Ash, the ass-kickin’ underdog Deadeye slayer, as Starz unveiled the first ever “Ash vs Evil Dead” trailer to the Comic-Con audience in San Diego. It also came with some tricks and treats, promising to premiere on Saturday, October 31st!

The trailer is below, and is every horror fan’s wet dream. It all begins with a little backstory, as Ash dictates to his new sidekicks, before **** hits the fan and they all become covered in blood. There’s incredible effects work on the new Deadites (it looks all practical), and your geek heads will explode the second you see Ash leap through the air for his infamous chainsaw! Oh, and the “boomstick” does some serious damage…

If anything, it looks like classic Sam Raimi delivering knee-slapping comedy with over-the-top gore. If we learned anything from Drag Me to Hell, it’s that Raimi still has it. “Ash vs Evil Dead” is going to be beyond groovy.

In the 10-episode “Ash vs Evil Dead” series premiering this fall, Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.”

“Ash vs Evil Dead” is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead and is set to premiere on STARZ in fall 2015.
