Donut Shop Visited by Ariana Grande Downgraded by Department of Health

Well, how come the place previously held an A health rating? Keeping food out in the open must have been deemed ok then. This incident therefore alerted the standards agency to the idea that maybe it wasn't the most hygenic option, so they're re-thinking their grade. Just makes it seem that it's not a general health code, that's all.

They must have not had food out in the open last time the shop was inspected. It is a very clear very strictly enforced law here. Come the the US sometime and take note of all food being behind cases or boxes. This shop broke a very well-documented law and it was caught on camera becuase of this Ariana incident. Don't make it into more more than what is it, the US just has highers standards. :emma:

Ariana's impact :emma: Although this is a good thing really, people deserve safer food, away from salivary contact from strangers

Uhm are you serious with your comment? Who the **** would have known that some ratchet-ass 14 years old would come and lick all the donuts? :lmao: Downgrade Ariana's hygiene level, not the shop

Well yeah of course it's Ariana's fault, I didn't say it wasn't :duck: I'm not saying her behaviour is the shop's fault or anything :toofunny: I'm just saying that now that we know that there are silly people out there who are willing to do whatever she did that a step should be taken to prevent that in the future. It's unfortunate that an establishment have to fix up because of some bad customers but in the long run it works out better because it's a precautionary measure

Plus if that law's true then it doesn't matter whether it's Ariana or whoever else, they didn't abide by a rule and now they're being told to do so otherwise there will be harsh consequences

In the UK, in most bakeries, it's kept behind a glass container but there are plenty of bakery aisles in supermarkets and maybe some small, local bakeries that keep food out in the open.

Same In Canada. US must have bulk sections in supermarkets where people serve themselves. Restaurants, though, may be governed by a different code of rules.

Ok, I just thought in this case, downgrading their score was a bit mean considering the situation. They could have been quietly informed to change it in a week but not actually been downgraded. As if their business hasn't been affected enough by this.

By the way, this reminds me of the Justin Beiber mop bucket incident. That restaurant wasn't investigated due to poor hygiene because how were they to know? I notice everyone seems to be treating Ariana with the same contempt that Justin got. This might be difficult to get over. It seems like it's something that could be easily forgotten but it's such a weird case that it's unlikely to.

This is a double scandal, because the donut licking and the I hate America comment offend different groups and get the story reported different places.  I've seen her criticized for classism too, as in "little brat looks down on ordinary Americans who eat donuts and buy her music."

She made it worse by not acknowledging the donut licking in her apology, instead making it all about her America comment, avoiding the main issue and therefore basically admitting that she didn't think the donut licking was wrong or she knew it was wrong and thus, wanted to detract attention away from it by focusing on the America comment. Either way, she hasn't apologised for the main issue. The comment is neither here nor there - it's not a crime to use free speech, it was clearly a non-serious joke and she probably thought no one around her could hear her anyway. But it is a crime to tamper with a consumer product. She also didn't apologise for offending the worker who put the donuts on the counter with her comment that they looked nasty. I'm surprised the staff aren't calling for a lawsuit to be brought against her, seriously. It's not a matter of if they'll actually win or not, it's about publicising the fact that it's not ok to defile things in public and it's unacceptable even if you're a celebrity.
