Spock 20,290
Erm... Ground breaking format? In what sence? Ever heard of The Fame? And many others.... Glee is very gliss and gloss and not very musically great, but very very basic. Sure there were some deeper storylines, however nothing ground breaking NOR abything that hasn't been done better before... And about The actual topic, do we really even know IF this happened or is this a pathetic attempt to gather attention to off Broadway show.... IF true, it was quite rude eventhought it's great that M supports these shows by going.... lmao, re you really comparing a TV show to a Lady Gaga album? That's like comparing The Pinkprint to Modern Family, it makes no sense Selling the songs of that week's episode on iTunes was something that had never been done before. The last musical TV shows that premiered the decade before Glee had embarrassingly crashed and burned. Everybody mocked Glee, saying it was going to get canceled, and not only was the Pilot a hit, they extended it to a full 22 episode season before the fifth episode was aired. No music label wanted to sign them until Columbia Records took an enormous risk that really paid off the minute Don't Stop Believin' started charting and reached #4 on the BBH100. It has been lauded as a business model. How many TV shows had done that before? None. And Since? Smash, Nashville, even American Horror Story and Empire, and none had the charting power Glee had. So yeah, groundbreaking. As for the show being "basic" lmao, I swear, people need to start pulling the head out of their asses and stop throwing that word around. The show was also praised for its storylines because they tackled issues that hadn't been tackled before, and especially not to such a young audience. The gay climate was difficult in 2009 as it was just before or at the beginning of the talks about gay marriage, rights, bullying etc. Glee certainly had a say in that as the show was enormous, reached millions and helped plenty of people. And about the actual topic, that's a pretty stupid thing to say Yes it happened, and going to a show to text almost all the way through is not supporting, it's being an asshole who will love me when the night is over

Yanko 9,860
That's not yelling. "She could have done worse" is a bad excuse for bad behavior. Obviously, she isn't more professional than that, because her behavior was rude and completely unacceptable. burn ha!1!@@
LoveandMagic 1,731
What's interesting is that in my copy of Speed the Plow it says that Madonna performed it on stage in 1988. I wonder how she would have felt if, in one of her earliest acting roles in the early stages of her career as a performer, she noticed someone in the audience texting like crazy with that distracting light in their face? Luckily for her, cell phones weren't a thing in the 80's, but it is considered very, very rude thing to do because it causes many actors (good ones too) to break character. Now, I'm not saying Madonna should be scalped or anything, I don't know what was on her phone and I know she is a very busy woman, but it is a mark of disrespect not just to the actors and the play, but to her fellow audience members as well. I'm sure she didn't plan on being a distraction, but it obviously was one. I'm sure the cast and crew would have rathered she stayed home than text. I got my Bachelor's in Theatre, and something that was always emphasized to us when we would go see plays is "don't be a distraction" and "put cell phones away". In the few plays I've been in I was fortunate to only have one "minor" incident with a cell phone, but it did break my partner's lines and threw us off. Now, having said all this, I'm not hating on Madonna. I like Madge and respect her as a performer and innovator. But I am disappointed in this. I know she can be a bit of a diva, but I also recognize that she loves the arts and shares her passion with others, so this behavior is a bit puzzling to me. Likely the texts were work related and she got caught up in them, not realizing what a distraction she was being. Hopefully next time she can schedule a night of entertainment with which she can leave the phone at home. Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax." She has seen hundreds of shows, Im sure. If she thought the show was crap, she should have gotten up and left. Instead she was disrespectful to all the actors on stage and all the people around her who paid a lot of money for a ticket. She could have respected other artists and other patrons and voiced her criticism the next day on Twitter or some other form of social media.
Bad Bromance 5,809
Wow, that's just wrong. I get that Madonna must be one of the busiest people in the music industry. Especially with the tour and things like that but come on, you don't go to the theatre and text or use your phone through most of the performance. I mean, how would she like it if someone at her show was doing that? Knowing her, she'd probably call them out in a rude way! I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.
