This pretty much. I don't see why everyone gets all hot and slayed over this, and not to mention, this is beyond an obvious fact.

I always thought when we had discussions on rock vs. R&B and the like, we were all under the impression that it's still going to be essentially pop, the debate being what sort of pop.

Chic

The only rock music Gaga has done recently has been over-sung and sounds more like she's trying to imitate the cliche of a rock star like a caricature rather than the actual, genuine thing. There is no identity to her when she sings rock, she sounds overly dramatic as if she's trying to appeal to the idea of what people assume rock to be. She's a pop star with a psuedo rock star attitude, and it works in that case. This does not work when she's doing legitimate rock music.

Gaga grew up on pop and rock. She was a fan of Britney Spears and Whitney Houston too, not just old classic rockers. What is this delusion fans make up that rock music is what she, as a "rebel", has just been bursting to do as an artist throughout her whole career, and that doing so would be "going back to her roots". Her roots have always been a conglomerate of pop and rock, clearly. Even her rock demos early in her career were infused with pop. People want Gaga to do rock (a selfish request) and have this easy cover-up of her having done minimal amounts of live rock music as a way of justifying how they just "want what Gaga wants". That's more controlling than wanting Gaga to do pop, just subtle. As if the fans ever had that sort of influence on her musical direction anyway.

But no, I'm here for her alienating a large portion of the fanbase for a genre that doesn't chart and in which she is so cringeworthy at imitating after waiting so long for her next release, separated by yet another tested genre that she was actually trained in.

I agree with every aspect you posted besides whats in the above box. I think you're over-compensating some sort of vendetta against pretentious gaga fans such as myself that have the audacity to say katy perry is **** in another thread (I saw you like a users post negating my negative opinion of her) in saying that she over sings and is a cheap imitation of. Now I agree that she is not a true rock artist. But exactly where have you seen her try to be? Because she covered 4 Non Blondes? Of which she absolutely did not come off as a caricature or over sing, there was control in her voice. She was able to scream but bring that **** back down. Thats not overdoing it as opposed to say....her rolling stones performance where there was definitely no control imo. Which I didn't think was terrible per say but  wasn't mindblowing or incredibly impressive. Not that anyone even acts like it is here or otherwise. Idk. I don't entirely disagree with you I just think you're overcompensating with the negativity. Like shes not even cringeworthy for that reason. But tbh I rarely ever really like your stance on things, I dislike most of your opinions/taste. Not saying that to be shadey but it makes sense that we rarely agree.

I still feel like there will be a rock influence. Idk, just a feeling. I'm happy with a pop album though.
