giskardsb 12,565
- The lyrics are extremely dramatic and the metaphor of, "I need you more than dope" is weak. that's not a metaphor its a true statement. Gaga literally had to decide that people she loved were more important than getting high. How can that possibly be "weak".
Carmex 964
My faves are Venus, ARTPOP, Applause, G.U.Y and Gypsy And from those only ARTPOP was performed as a demo version, and I like the final version better, it's so magical But I think Sexxx Dreams, MANiCURE and Aura were definitely better as iTunes/demo versions tbh I liked the iTunes Festival version of ARTPOP bc of the he he's tbh

Echo 327
It's cheesy, and cringe-worthy. It drags on, it's bad. I didn't like it from day

La Kubrick 892
Dope is one of my favorite, I love this song, I love the way she sings it and I get it..."I know I ****ed up again"

blubrryxkisses 15
I love it so much because I connect with it on a deep, personal level and never before have I had a song feel so personal to me. I cannot listen to it without crying my eyes out, but it's like a cathartic experience since I have moved past those dark times in my life. The song captures emotions that people struggling with addiction feel (or have felt) in such a simple, honest and vulnerable way. I have the lyrics tattooed on my back in Gaga's handwriting. The song means that much to me.
Optimus 298
The vocal ruin the song. Such a terrible mess. IWBWY>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Katie14 4,828
I don't really like her vocals on the album version. They are too heavy and tired sounding for me. Whenever I want to listen to that song I listen to the Howard Stern version. Its so much better in my opinions. What I do like about the song is the emotion it conveys and the picture in conjures up in your mind. I think you have to be in the right mindset to fully enjoy and get it. Her vocals aren't pretty or really pleasant sounding. She is meant to sound like a drunk woman who is severely depressed trying desperately to get her life back. I picture a women sitting at her kitchen table sobbing through those lyrics with a bottle of whiskey. I never liked IWBWY. I think the lyrics are ridiculously cheesy. Miracle 14,068
Listen to the last artRAVes versions (Barcelona, Paris) and you'll love it. I assure + confirm you that you'd gain a huge amount of love for Dope. I used to hate it before my artRAVE but it eventually became one of my fav ARTPOP songs after the concert, the You know you know you know is just...magical
Slayer 9,227
I love it so much because I connect with it on a deep, personal level and never before have I had a song feel so personal to me. I cannot listen to it without crying my eyes out, but it's like a cathartic experience since I have moved past those dark times in my life. The song captures emotions that people struggling with addiction feel (or have felt) in such a simple, honest and vulnerable way. I have the lyrics tattooed on my back in Gaga's handwriting. The song means that much to me. That's so sweet, I'm glad you connect with it on a really personal level.I think that's where the song doesn't work for me. I've got used to the in-your-face lyrics and the strange vocals - I don't have a problem with those. I just don't connect to the song at all. Also I tend to listen to ARTPOP from start to finish, so Dope is always a bizarre downer in an otherwise dance-heavy album. I think that puts me off, too. I'd say it's my least favourite, least played song on ARTPOP. I don't hate it, I just don't relate to it. I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!! AbuHassan1992 766
well, I think the bluntness of the chorus clashes with he more symbolic and metaphorical verses. "I need you more than dope", she can do way better than that
