Computer 10,973
Amazing to see the years in perspective. Each of those early years seem like a lifetime apart from each other whereas late 2013 thru today feels like all the same single current day thing to me. I mean kind of can't believe how fast ARTPOP came after BTW even though at the time it felt like waiting forever. We are due for some new stuff! 💚💛💕❣⭕💢💢 | ⓜⓔⓡⓡⓨ ©ⓗⓡⓘⓢⓣⓜⓐⓢ

lxdygxga 3,353
2008 is definitely the atypical "Gaga" look. Especially the Origami dresses. 2009 is the bob cut and the mirror dress she was working at several festivals. 2010 is a tough one between the Meat Dress at the VMAs and the Fame Monster Gaga, specifically the yellow hair. But looking back on that entire year, I remember her for the yellow hair, rather than a short period such as the meat dress, so I went with that. 2011 is Born This Way Gaga in full effect. Even though it was far from my favorite, the teal hair particularly stood out during that era. 2012 is Vuitton Brown. And 2013 is Seashell Girl. 2014 would be the Italian Curls, definitely. And 2015 thus far, probably stands out for me as the Grammys. It's amazing when you look back, you realize just how far her image has come in a matter of years. She has fit a career's worth of progression within 5/6 years. No way would you think that OrigamiGaga and Italian Curls are the same woman. She brings such an aura to each image she embodies, that it's like she's a whole new person.
Tokyo Rose 1,475
You're right, the yellow hair is iconic 2010 Gaga, and those dramatic eyebrows take me back to the Telephone video! Before, we hardly saw her eyebrows at all because they were always covered by bangs
jojuun 4,159
To be honest, I feel like it worked more when she "stayed true" to one or two/three looks per era. She talked about it in her early career that she really wanted people to see her everywhere with the blonde bangs, the glasses and the tan. That she wanted to "print it into people's mind". Nowadays she'll do a look, like "Seashell Girl", but abandon it after a week or two. She occasionally brings it back, I know, but still... I also am aware Seashell Gaga was there for ArtRAVE but you get the point. I know her tagline for ARTPOP was "I'm every icon" and I also agree that someone on her level needs to evolve constantly but looking at the icons before her... They've all stayed true, to a certain extent, to one or a couple of looks per era. If Gaga could, she'd probably change 40 times a day. She's actually done it a lot for ARTPOP promo, with up to 6 looks in a day. Think of Bowie. Long haired early Bowie, the Thin White Duke look, the red Aladdin Sane era with the make-up, blonde Bowie in China Girl and on the Moonlight Tour. It defined his era's.A better example maybe is Madonna. When you say early Madonna you think of the wild messy hair, lace, bracelets and punk. True Blue Madonna was short, peroxide blonde hair with red lips, morphing into brunette beauty for Like A Prayer only to morph back into Blonde Ambition for the tour... So on and so forth. When you say Music, everyone remembers the cowboy hats. Confessions was all leotards, disco hair, purples and pinks. It just works really well in a world where everything has already been seen by everyone and other celebs change outfits and looks daily. Some true imagery for an era is just so much more memorable and her older comments prove that she understands that. Lots of change but within one "theme" is what I'd stick with when planning Gaga's new album/aesthetic.

The Child 18,997
2008 : I don't know if it's truly from 2008 but since I started loving Gaga like in early 2009, I remember hearing in 2008 from a girl named Lady Gaga cause her bow haircut was amazing. 2009 : This look and this music video really had an impact on me more than all the other videos released that year, yeah even BR. 2010 : I'm more talking about the yellow hair and Telephone had a really big impact on me, even more than the meat dress. 2011 : The horns again had a big impact on me, I loved them cause they were weird. 2012 : That's the day I saw her for the first time in my life, I was in that "crowd" behind her while people were screaming Gaga, I was just starstruck tbh. I'll always remember 2012 as BrunetteGa tbh. 2013 : This look slayed me while watching the VMAs & the Swinefest. 2014 : This performance of Bang Bang was truly the first performance I really loved from the C2C era. 2015 : No need for an explanation. ‘If religion be the cause of disunity, then irreligion is surely to be preferred.’ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá
