I watched and listened to the entire thing, after which the "Bling! Bling!" part of the song get stuck for ever in my head. I became a fan a bit later. Bad Bromance 5,809 Posted June 25, 2015 Share Posted June 25, 2015 As some of you may already know, the very first time I saw Gaga perform she wasn't even famous yet and I don't believe she had signed with Interscope yet. It was at Lollapalooza 2007 (August) that I saw Gaga perform alongside Lady Starlight as part of the Lady Gaga and The Starlight Revue performance art piece in Chicago. I, of course, had no idea who she was but I was mesmerized by her because of the way she owned the stage and the way she had no fvcks to give. I mean, she walked out on stage in her a bedazzled bra, underwear, stockings, and high heels! She was practically naked and she had no regard for the fact that she was performing before a Midwestern crowd that can be judgmental and conservative at times. That attitude of hers is what got my attention along with the fact that she performed Dirty Ice Cream, Disco Heaven, and Summerboy. When I heard Disco Heaven and Summerboy I asked myself, "who the fvck is this girl and who does she think she is? She's really good, so I have to buy her music." Only to my surprise, no one in the audience knew who she was but they were really digging her. After her show ended, one of the guys that was there told my friends and I that she was from New York and was a regular on the Lower East Side music scene but that she hadn't made it big yet. So I went home, humming the beat and singing some of the lyrics to Summerboy, only to realize a little over a year later that she had made it big when I bought The Fame in October of 2008!! It was at this point when I realized that Lady Gaga and the girl I saw a year earlier at Lollapalooza were the same person after I heard Summerboy off The Fame!!! I had already seen her perform Just Dance at the NewNowNext Awards on Logo and had bought Just Dance on iTunes and had watched her perform at the Miss Universe pageant in July of 2008, but I wasn't able to make the connection because Gaga performed with Lady Starlight in her natural brunette hair and the Gaga I was beginning to stan for was platinum blonde so I didn't recognize her. Needless to say, I am honored to say I saw Gaga perform before she was even famous so that makes me feel an extra connection to her. She really has come a long way.
