Three months could be enough to hit absolute rock bottom and lose everything. One month already could be enough to hit absolute rock bottom. What is the bigger picture when without a paycheck you are potentially homeless and in 100k debt that you can't pay back anymore? Not saying this is Taylor, but it's the harsh reality of thousands of songwriters who get f*cked over by their labels AND streaming services.

They have other benefits from Apple obviously if they are connected with them through thier label (the "small" artists).

Also, that 100k number is just :smh:

Getting paid or not, it doesn't make sense. The music isn't Apples material, why should they get to put it up there for free?

Well assuming from Taylor's album sales of 1989, I think most people have already bought the album and she's already earning a bunch. She can let her music go up for free for 3 months. She has the money. She isn't some broke ass hobo living in the streets.

Taking the music off only makes sense for small artists and artists who just released their album at the same time because it'll make people go buy the albums instead of streaming. Which is what Taylor is trying to do because she's ****ing greedy and using a good point (that doesn't really go for her) to excuse her greed.

Money whöre. She disgusts me (but she got great songs  )

By the time you reach the end of this sentence, it'll be too late to realize I just wasted your time with a pointless sig.

I get what she's saying, but I hope she truly cares about those new artists instead of just using it as an excuse to take her music off because she can't milk money out of it for herself.

Apple is more greedy like I said, but you didn't pay attention to it. They have the money to pay the labels, but they don't since they're greedy and cheap.
This is just about your hate against Taylor. You would've praised Gaga if she did this and said the same thing.

Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction?

You/She has a point, BUT Taylor isn't an upcoming artist, she's far from that and she's just using this point for an excuse to take her music off of there. She is greedy.

She's not an upcoming artist, but she is an artist that can use her voice in the world to make a statement. These upcoming artists cant do that because they're not big enough yet. If a tiny new band boycotts Apple Music/Tidal/Spotify nobody will know. If someone like Taylor, Beyoncé or Gaga were to do it, those companies will definitely take notice. So in that regard it's great that big, established artists like that are taking active standpoints in this discussion, even though they don't even need the money anymore.

I don't know Taylor well enough to say if she's greedy or not, so I'm not gonna discuss that.

I don't think she's coming from the ground of greediness in this case, she's just trying to protect other artists and she thinks producers/artists deserve the credits when it's their works which are being presented to the public.

I hate Taylor and Apple sis. I won't even be using Apple Music. But no this isn't just about my hate against Taylor. Well it kind of is because she's the only ****ing artist acting this way which is greedy and deceptive LOL

I would praise Gaga for the idea that this isn't good for small artists but not that she's taking her music off entirely even though I don't use music streaming things because I buy all my music.

I understand her point but where was Taylor's open letter when Tidal were robbing people of $20 a month compared to half the price of Spotify? She was fine taking a costly amount from her fans but when it comes to herself or other labels it is a different story.  Without the consumer none of these artists would have a penny anyway

People on here were all for Apple at first and now they are switching sides because of Taylor, either way people are always going to lose out whilst they begin this new business adventure. It is bound to happen. Taylor needs to realise that no one really cares whether her music is not on there and she isn't a God who controls the masses. Gaga has that crown :gaga:

Before you bash streaming / the internet and music. Look at your music library

Arctic Monkeys - Would be nothing without the internet
Lana Del Rey - the internet pretty much supported her when Radios wanted to wipe her from existance
Any indie band or artist that's not played on radio - Streaming/internet is their life force

I really have a hard time sympathising about money with someone who has 200 million in networth... As much as I love Taylor I can't agree with her on this one

This is how things are now, you either fight the change or it'l cause your downfall. She's been incredibly luckily in having three 1m+ debuting albums but if she tries to fight the system too much it'l cause her downfall.

I'm honestly getting annoyed by this whole topic. As artist, I know I'm going to struggle with money. EVERY artist knows that. And to be expected to be paid in millions and make a ton of money off of making art is ridiculous. Being able to make a living off of your artistry is a privilege and blessing and something not everyone will be able to achieve.

I don't agree with apple not paying anyone for that free trial but at the same time from a business perspective, I understand it's an investment.

I am pretty sure her next album will have a song about streaming services.

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.
