me069 284
Well that's business. The money earned by Apple on their electronics can't be used to pay those labels and artists on Apple Music. Their streaming service needs to earn money first to be able to pay the labels, artists, etc. I guess that's how this **** works. Oh, I didn't mean the revenue from their electronics, I know that is a different thing. How does one earn from streaming? Does the money come only from subscriptions? I really have little to no knowledge of these streaming services
PoshLife 16,980
Anyone who knows me well on here knows I don't particularly like Taylor Swift or her music. But her message seems genuine to me, and she makes a good point about smaller artists suffering as a result of free streaming. If streaming is the future of music, it shouldn't be free and artists should be paid for it.I'm always suspicious about VERY rich artists' true intentions, but again, this seems genuine to me. PoshLife 16,980
I’m not sure you know that Apple Music will not be paying writers, producers, or artists for those three months. oh no, how will they survive? I'm very doubtful as to whether you read the entire message before posting this. Not only did a mere two minutes pass between OP and your post, but it seems you're responding to only a topic sentence, and not the entire essay. ItsTommyBitch 12,640
Did some of you guys read the article? When she dropped out of Spotify, I thought she was greedy, and when she avoided the future flop that was TIDAL, I thought it was a good decision. I think this is also a good decision, though maybe she is misunderstanding Apple's reasoning/rationale for the 3 month free guarantee. I do think Apple is progressive enough (and rich enough) to offer some sort of compromise for the people who will be unpaid in the first 3 months. I think there are things they could do other than just be like "it'd be easiest to just not pay you guys " Taylor has a point that the small artist, the small writer, the small producer will be ****ed over by this; 3 months is a lot of time and not every artist has a constant stream of money coming in or a "job" per say; not every artist is making enough money to live. How common is the story of the poor artist who gets a record deal and THEN becomes rich/well off? Like, its such an oversight that people who don't want to do it for this reason have every right to be wary of it. As for her personally? "These are not the complaints of a spoiled, petulant child. These are the echoed sentiments of every artist, writer and producer in my social circles who are afraid to speak up publicly because we admire and respect Apple so much. We simply do not respect this particular call." said it all I'm with her on it Also slay @ that last line (Though don't many many music artists and affiliates get free phones and products from Apple... ? ) 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから
Tropico 4,145
hungry for dem coin$ I dont blame her tho I am a fan of Taylor Swift. But she is greedy AF. She's so hungry for money Seriously what is her problem it's not like she will get more money is she DOESNT give them her songs. I bought her album and I actually buy every album that I like But she IS greedy. Don't act like she hasn't already made A LOT of millions from her new album.... She just could put her music there and after 3 months she would start getting money from there as well I doubt y'all even read the article. She says that it isn't about her. She OBVIOUSLY makes enough money to lose out on 3 months. The reason she isn't supporting it is to make a statement on behalf of the smaller artists who get nothing for 3 months. They're the ones missing out - not Taylor. This doesn't make her "greedy". That label for her is as old as the slut label. This just makes her considerate and shows she has integrity. Taylor is commendable for this. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

I think there are things they could do other than just be like "it'd be easiest to just not pay you guys Honestly this. If anyone thinks Apple won't pay artists whose music is streamed in those 3 months then they're clueless. Ad revenue alone would be enough to compensate. Then consider that Apple knows better than to piss off their clients (the artists), they're too good at business to just not pay them. The three month trial period is to sell the app, not the music. The music would, in a way, already be sold and the artists would have a guaranteed paycheck in those three months and after. I get Taylor's point, it's a good one, but she's a little misguided here. Struggling artists would still have their money and more exposure, thanks to people (who don't want to buy the app but will still use the trial period) being able to see their music, which means more money down the line regardless. 🌸Flourishing and vibrant🌼

Yves 1,891
First of all, she is being smart. A smart businesswoman. Many labels, including Adele's, are having doubts about it. She's making a big step by exposing Apple like that. Second, there's a text written on the Foreword part of 1989 saying: "These songs were once about my life. They are now about yours." I'm asking, if you gave a big effort on making something big that your experiences in life are included, wouldn't you ask for something back? Her era/album is making good profits, too. If she releases her smash album to Apple Music, people would rush to just stream it. Streaming = small profit, Streaming = not buying albums, Not buying albums = no profit. Selling albums yields benefits. She's just being rational. Yet, all of you are pressed. Good for ha but sis please think about STYLE What about Style? (It's arguably the best on the album but its time went by, and we need to move on for the smash that got away.)
