Diplo: Confused That Madonna Not Allowed to Be Sexy But Caitlyn Jenner is?

I'm sorry I'm a firm believer that there is a time and age for everything. If I saw a 20 or 30 year old still playing with toys and wanting to act like a baby/toddler, I would think there was something wrong with him or her and I bet you all would too. This is no different.

i feel the reason a lot to you defenders of Madonna find it acceptable is because she is trying to appeal to your age demographic. Since many of you are at the age where it's okay to party and club and act wild and date people around their 20's you don't see why Madonna cannot either. Just like how little kids don't see anything wrong with a grown adult acting like a little kid on tv because that type of behavior is their norm.

But when you see someone older (and 20-30 years older mind you) doing the same thing it just shows lack of maturity, and lack of maturity will bring on criticism by many.

Many of of you keep claiming than she is fighting ageism but how is she really doing that? If she wants to show that older people can still party and have fun why is there no other 50 or 60 year old in that video? Instead it comes off more like "look, I'm still young, I'm still happening, I can be cool"

if "b---h [she's] Madonna" then she has nothing to prove. She shouldn't try to fit in and she should just say "f*** you, I'm cool and I'm a bad b**** and I have nothing to prove" instead it seems like she does have something she wants to prove.

Plus the song seems self-celebrating... Like great your Madonna and you can do whatever you want... How can her fans or casual listeners relate to this? We certainly aren't Madonna and can't do all the things she can do on a daily basis.

It it just seems odd that someone who had such a brilliant album like RoL that had such maturity for her to go back to this. Hard Candy, MDNA, and some of Rebel Heart just have such awfully immature songs that makes me question which Madonna I am to believe? The artist who sang frozen or the artist who is now shouting Bitch I'm Madonna.

I don't see why her fans can't see why it's possible to be s-xy while still acting her age... Being in a party scene getting drunk and making out with hot young guys isn't s-xy... Not for a 50 year old and quite frankly not even for a 20 year old... It just looks sloppy.

But to each their own it's a free country she can act however she wants... But she should also accept the fact that there will be criticism too.

Excuse you? The difference between the toddler thing and "acting like a 20 year old" is the fact that she's an adult. What kind of sick comparison? It's not that she incapable of taking care of herself (or her children for that matter) just because she dressed and "dances" young in a music video. What in Madonna's real life screams 20 year old to you? It's just her public persona that is "young". Oh yeah and that she dates younger men. Since when is that a problem? Is Mick Jagger also behaving like a sicko because he's dating a 25 year old at his age? No one bats an eyelash at older men with younger women, proving that it's the SOCIAL STANDARD that bothers you. So yes she IS fighting ageism. You wrote an essay explaining what she should behave like just based on the fact that she is 56 yet you say "I don't see how her fans can say she's fighting against ageism."

Plus, you need to realise there is such a thing as being a multifaceted person with a multifaceted career. What are you going to say when someone says "I don't see how Gaga could release a mature album like Cheek To Cheek and now go back to silly popmusic"? Artists are allowed to make different types of records. Besides, have you even listened to Rebel Heart? The entire record is based on the fact that she has the romantic, deeper side to her and the fun, unapologetic controversy queen side. And yes it's relevant as hell, there's 2 threads now about this video just on this website alone and the video is getting major press coverage. Face it, she did it again. Like she always has and like she always will. Stay pressed.

And wtf @ "it's not like we are all Madonna, we can't do the things she can do". Are YOU a toddler? It is clearly a metaphor about when someone tells you you can't do something you just say "Bitch, I'm Madonna." It stands for being unapologetic and the fact that she has nothing left to prove and can act as silly as she wants. The entire record and video themselves are pretty self-explanatory.

You need to read a book and open your mind. If society demands we all wear purple hair and green dots on our face the minute we turn 45, would you do it? Cause you sure do love to adjust yourself to social standard and expect others to do so as well.

And you killed your entire speech with your last sentence. She IS indeed free to do what she wants and yes there'll always be criticism. It is just interesting that that criticism is just solely based on the fact that she's 56 coming off as "desperate", while she is the original bad girl who has always done this.

To all the people complaining about ageism next time you are on a crowed public bus and a woman in her mid 50's asks for your seat, just say, "b---h I am just as tired as you are and Madonna says we are equals. I am not giving you my seat." Let's see how that plays out.

excuse you. Stop being selectively ageist. She is acting way younger than somebody of her age would according to social norms. Whether that be my example or her being in her mid 50's acting like she's in her mid 20's

And yes, I have listened to RH. I actually do like songs like Ghost town, addicted, Devils pray. These songs are actually meaningful and display depth.

I do read books, I do have an open mind, not that I need to explain or prove myself to you. I just think it's ridiculous for someone in their 50's to act like she's in her 20's. I don't even think 30 year olds should be behaving this way (but whatever that's a matter of opinion and taste). Like I said there is an age for everything. And no I'm not gonna say b---h I'm (insert name here) to people who tell me I can't do something. That's just stupid. If I wanna do something I just do it. I would believe you saying it's all a metaphor and whatever crap you are saying if she wasn't dressing little kids like miniature versions of herself in the video and having artists like Beyoncé copy her dance moves. It's a song meant to celebrate her, the artist, and thus it's not a song I can relate to. Sorry we see things differently on that front.

And again like I said she can still be s-xy if she wants but there are ways of displaying that s-xiness... And I'm sorry running around like your drunk and making out with randoms is not s-xy, not at any age.

and yes she was an original bad girl, but she is now is a sheep following trends. Her last few albums reflect that she changes her musical style to match what's popular at that time and raises questions as to whether her music is a reflection of her genuine artistry vs marketed towards a certain demographic.

i actually liked ghost town and I think the video and single were great, she was going in a great direction with LFL/Ghost town until she ruined it with this single/video, probably in response to her poor album/single sales. So yeah it makes me feel she is desperate for a hit rather than staying true to her artistic integrity. After all b---h she's Madonna.... What does she need to prove? Why even bother trying to get number 1's, release whatever music you want and f*** the public/charts/media/etc. just release whatever music you want. I iust don't think her latest single is her not giving a ****. In fact, it's the opposite. She gives a **** so much she wants to do anything for a smash hit.

And like I said again, why are there no other people in her age group or older  in that video? If she is trying to fight ageism how about inviting more people her age to show that older people can party and have fun.... But no she surrounds herself with a much younger demographic.

And for the record she can date whoever she wants.... Would I personally date someone much younger than me? No, but that's her desire and she is free to date whoever she wants.

This is the only part of your argument that has merit imo. And it's interesting to think about.

yep...even Gaga had more people in their 50's in her GUY video. Lol she is actually doing more for them than Madonna is. Madonna fight against ageism is self serving. I love it when a site like New Now Next does a story about Madonna and ageism. I always want to know how many people over 50 they employ.

What is there not to get?

One presents themselves in a classy mature way and the other one tries to dress and act like a 20 year old.

It's called growing up.

That's true, I think Diplo is right but to me it feels that Madonna isn't doing anything really authentic now she is just doing what everybody is doing and it doesn't suit her

:applause: I agree , especially with her music part ... Like , if she really doesn't give a **** , why does she follow trends instead of making them , like she used to ? All the things she does just shows how hungry for money , hits and fame she is , even though , little Medonsters will come for me for stating my opinions 'cause it's not a positive one and they are bothered , from what I see on some threads :green:  and also , like the person I quoted , if she is so bothered by ageism and "fights" it , why didn't she used old people in her videos?

ok

stay perched in madonna threads  ??

nah , I'm just expressing my own opinions about her :P if your idol Madonna can express herself then I'm allowed to express my opinions too :sis:  tho , why would you expect me or anyone else to like Madonna or anything related to her since I came on this site for Gaga , and not for that woman?

Madonna is a try hard. So she doesn't look "s-xy", but desperate and pathetic.

Caitlyn is not vulgar nor trying desperately to be hip and young.

And we hate you, Diplo.

To all the people complaining about ageism next time you are on a crowed public bus and a woman in her mid 50's asks for your seat, just say, "b---h I am just as tired as you are and Madonna says we are equals. I am not giving you my seat." Let's see how that plays out.

That's an idiotic statement. What you're implying is that they need to accept and live by the unfair mental social construct that is forced upon them in order for you to show your respect for them, which is exactly what Madonna is fighting for. She was never even political about it, It was always about mere morality which you clearly lack.

Madonna representing an extreme, opposite picture of what she's supposed to be in order to be socially embraced is her way to form a social resistance and to spark a discussion on that matter, she knows what she's doing. If you actually believe that she's merely trying to stay young and hip then you're clearly the problem she's trying to face, I'm sure some of you are very aware of that, but knowing the absolute bias that some of you hold I'm not surprised that you're acting as if you're only seeing things from a literal, shallow point of view.
