PrinceGaga 7,585
There aren't many albums out there where I can honestly say that each song I love, but BTW is that for me. Everything about it is just flawless to me. The album cover is so related to the theme!! When I see it I get Gagas voice saying "just put on your red lipstick and be yourself" through and through (which I think is cool as the only thing in colour is the lipstick ;) ) I can't get over how perfect this album is to me. Glory 2,247
The only coherence there is in ARTPOP is the trilogy VENUS/GUY/SexxxDreamsOtherwise Whereas born this way give a journey of fighting & rebellious mood from Marry the night where she is down and accept to "marry" her problems to TEOG where she became victorious of all the thing that bothered her. It's truly an amazing album for that. eifulien 2,954
@Yanko, I swear you seem too often like a biased brat (which I believe you are not, but you always put your opinion too much in the face) "Stop making ARTPOP seem deep", like wtf? It may be superficial to you, ok, but saying it like that? You gotta bash it in every other thread, don't you? Take your precious BTW, hide in a whole and listen to it if that's what you like, but stop sh*tting on ARTPOP. There are plenty of people who do enjoy it a lot. Regarding the topic - BTW is, imo, very consistent in terms of themes and lyrics. But the production of the album is messy at times. Not all songs has that retro vibe, some are quite modern and defintiely sound contemporary. Regardless, the album has its power and charm. And I'm extremely happy to see some people here who get what ARTPOP is. @ARTSLAVE @Koreku @Tommy Monster I've said it numerous times - yes, yes, yes, the album is lyrically extremely diverse. But production-wise it is very consistent. @djBuffoon has explained it profesionally many times last year I remember when I joined. But all those themes Gaga explores on ARTPOP - how are they united then? Well, it's Gaga's personal perspective. All people have a multi-layer personality, right? You can't define one by only a single charactarestic. So ARTPOP makes a perfect poetic journey through Gaga's mind. ARTPOP has a certain philosophical aspect to it and for me it's the exploration of freedom in all its meanings. Hell, you can take the whole album as a freedom of what Gaga can do with it. At the end of the day, though, it is not necessary to explore all this to enjoy an album that's the epitome of EDM and pop marriage - fun, light party album. I would go on to say that BTW and AP are related in the freedom theme - while in BTW she was singing about it, she executed that freedom with ARTPOP. And as a conclusion, I hope that some day we will be able to enjoy all her albums without silly atacks and arguments. We have preferences and this doesn't mean they should be the same ofc, but a little bit more tolerance would be more than welcome rather than putting a biased opinion. Katsuki Bakugo 9,788
Judas is not about betrayal. It's about falling in love with the wrong guy but mostly about embracing your darkness (mistakes). I feel like the message is 'born to love your dark side'.ScheiBe is about feminism. The album is not all about being gay or being an outsider. It's about being who you are and being rebellious. Songs like Government Hooker, Electric Chapel and Bloody Mary are about being rebellious. The album cover is dark because the sound of the album is dark. Just because it's about being yourself it doesn't mean it has to have a colorful cover. EDIT: And ARTPOP in my opinion lacks of coherence. Mostly because Applause is the only song in the album that has art connotations. I was about to post a rant and thankfully saw your post and didn't need to! BTW was never for Gays exclusively... It was for all people and mostly for her, she was just heading into the darkness after she had reached her heightened levels of fame! She needed to find a way to accept her self whilst also letting her fans know it is ok to be different! Acceptance isnt unicorns and rainbows- its a dark twisted battle with yourself! Aka the front cover!Prism is katy's acceptance of coming out of a dark period in her life and an album of self reflection and also corporation mass production singles thrown in due to contract obligations. It was never about self acceptance... So I don't get what the OP was saying ARTPOP - felt like a body of work that the previous management and label decided to released based on clashes of creativity with the artist. You have songs like GUY, SeXxxxDreams and DWUW which can be see about s-x or about control... But nothing to do with Art. Aura is about revealling who you truly are to the public- but she has only just done that with C2C? Venus is a brilliant pop masterpiece but where is the art?? Jewels N' Drugs as well? ARTPOP isnt about art though, its a celebration of her pain in electronic music- its dark but makes you feel happy afterwards! Its a dance party in an album and should have been marketed differently with removing the word ARTPOP out of the songs and call it We Could Belong Together or something like that... And it would have more cohesion... At least to me... Haha rant ended If All You Ever Do Is Look Down On People, You Won't Be Able To Recognize Your Own Weaknesses. MEDONER 1,676
As usual BTW stans in complete denial and going full-retard in front of the truth How ironic that an album with a concept about love and acceptance (full of cheesy as fùck lyrics so that everyone listening to it gets the message... and diabetes) brought us some of the rudest and self-entitled so called fans. Florian 19,952
You know what, I really wanted to write arguments and exemples about the cohesiveness in both ARTPOP and Born This Way (imo BTW is a bit more cohesive than ARTPOP) but this thread is so messy so I won't explain anything and waste my time. The OP was really interesting and you knew the topic was controversial in this fanbase. Just don't play the naive card with "oh it's unfair" "so much negativity", ... It was obvious. But the main reason I won't argue about the OP is that @ARTSLAVE prefers responding to "negative" message instead of focusing on the interesting ones which relate to the OP. You could just ignore the negative comments and argue with interesting comments but you didn't and now your thread is simply messy and boring. Bradley 59,023
you sound pretty basic if you can't even detect sarcasm in people's response. If you prefer btw you could have intelligently stated why instead of REALLY basic insults on ARTPOPThis so much. Couldn't have said it better, and this should be addressed to everyone not just the recipient you quoted.
