LoveandMagic 1,731
This was a nice post from Iggy (and her team). I hope she does truly regret some of the things she's said and is working toward making herself a better person. The backlash is expected, and hopefully it will cause her to be more cautious with her words in the future. Words can cut as deep as any knife. Real maturity is recognizing past mistakes and learning to grow from them. I agree with you, for the most part. I think it's expected and deserved for her to receive backlash, but I also hate how people nowadays don't allow others to redeem themselves. Speaking out against Iggy and her choices that are insensitive to black culture- good. Not letting her move on or accepting her for changing as a person- bad.If we're going to cut people down for doing the wrong thing, we should build them up when they decide to make it right. Give credit where credit is due, and don't force someone to live in their past. I agree with this. People can better themselves. Often people say and do stupid stuff when they are really young that they deeply regret later. I'm willing to forgive and move on if someone has wronged me personally as long as I feel that they are being sincere. Redemption makes us better humans, and there is always room for love and forgiveness. Hopefully time will prove her worthy of such forgiveness. Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."
