Mills 446
All points raised are more than reasonable but I'd rather have Rihanna as the headliner first before her. And the talk about Carrie Underwood for a change isn't that bad of an idea too for 2015. Both came into the scene much earlier than KP.
TEANUS 12,941
The same could be said about Gaga though 1. HUGE US Success; 2 #1s with her DEBUT album. Bad Romance, Born This Way, The Edge of Glory, Applause, DWUW (BIG without a video); Born This Way one of the few albums to sell 1 million first week; First Female to receive RIAA Diamond Award - Bad Romance 2. HUGE International Impact; Current Queen of Japan, Queen of Australia 2010-2011; Highest Grossing Tour by a debut headlining artist; Bad Romance fastest video to reach 100 million views; The Fame: 29 million sold WW, Born This Way: 8 million sold WW 3. She's not family friendly cause she doesn't write for f*cking Disney! But....she puts on a great show that everyone can enjoy (Award show performances, her piano segments, iconic moments) 4. She's currently on an eye-popping tour, artRave 100% sold out I'm the US, played to ~80k people in Quebec, ~62k people in Japan over 2 shows; Huge catwalks, rave music, extravagant costumes, spectacular lasers and lighting 5. Her tour ends before the Super Bowl 6. SHES LADY F*CKING GAGA: SHES GOING TO F*CKING SPACE, She's the face of Versace, She's releasing a jazz album with Tony Bennett, she has 5 Grammys, 13 MTV VMAs including Video of The Year Bad Romance, including 2 moms the same year (BR and Telephone), FAME best selling fragrance Billboard, don't start with me British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
JustPokeHerFace 2,564
They are right though. I mean, Katy will probably do the SB one day, and so Gaga. I doubt Katy would be able to deliver with all the presure and I don't think she has enough talent to shine by herself, but that's not the point. The point is that she is at her peak and yes it would be a go idea to have her doing the halftime. TBH I want Gaga to wait at least 10 years before doing the SuperBowl halftime. This is something big, you don't rush those kinds of things and you need to be in the industry for a long time. I think Bruno Mars shot himself in the foot by doing the performance so early in his career and it showed... the performance was... forgettable. I couldn't agree more. Artists should wait a while before they do the Superbowl. Madonna was smart in doing it so late in her career because she had generations of hits to choose from and the passage of time cemented her legacy so that American viewers felt as if they were seeing a legend. Same with Beyonce. Bruno (and Katy if she does it) IMO did/would not be doing their careers any good by doing their performance this early. If Katy or Gaga will perform, I think they should wait five more years. The same could be said about Gaga though 1. HUGE US Success; 2 #1s with her DEBUT album. When she was in her imperial age, Madonna was extremely controversial and if she had performed at the Superbowl, many people would have abandoned it. If Gaga waits at least five more years until even considering it, much of the negativity in her prime will be forgotten (time heals all wounds) and people will remember the good. Plus, she'll probably have kids by then and have toned down her image.
MikeGoneGaga 86
seeing Katy is very popular in the U.S,. why not?? Popular though she may be, I've only heard Dark Horse on the Radio aside from the day she premiered Roar during this era. If it weren't for a friend of mine, I'd have no clue Unconditionally was a single. Also, I'd have no clue about This is How We Do if it weren't for GagaDaily.com...so, I'm starting to think her popularity is not as great as people may think...especially with people like Sam Smith & Ariana Grande being played on repeat along with Sia. Ya know?
DeleteMyAccount 11,881
Tbh, she does fit the bill. Katy is one of biggest and most accomplished entertainer on the planet. Whether she has a good voice, songs, dancing skills is almost irrelevant compared to what she has done in the past few years. Wouldn't be surprised if she did. Alcina Dimitrescu 1,156
I kinda agree, even tho she can't sing for sh*t. Katy had a great year, she deserved it. i agree. Rat Boy 41,753
Bruno's vocals were highly praised by critics. No shade but we all know Katy is not the most vocally talented act out there...I couldn't agree more. Artists should wait a while before they do the Superbowl. Madonna was smart in doing it so late in her career because she had generations of hits to choose from and the passage of time cemented her legacy so that American viewers felt as if they were seeing a legend. If Bruno rejected their offer he may have never received another offer again. "Rat Boy's a nasty, trashy, sleazy, classless"- River
Rat Boy 41,753
I agree she can entertain the audience the whole time. Better than Bruno Mars and Carrie Underwho. Bruno's performance was well received by critics, was the most viewed halftime show and is also nominated for an emmy this year. What position are you in to proclaim that the acts you named were/are going to be bad choices. Just because you have a narrow music taste does not mean that everything that you do not enjoy is bad. Yes but you can't deny that that would have been incredibly risky, she was taking a huge gamble. I guess what I'm saying is that whoever is in charge of selecting the show should go with established acts/legends as opposed to newer acts.
