Lum 315
She's seriously a good vocalist, if only it's more highlighted on her performances. This rendition of Yesterday just proves it, well at least to me. It's easily one of my favourites in a very long time. And she looked like an artist here more than the unstoppable pop superstar she's being presented as since 2011. Simple things like this reminds me on how deserving she is to have all of these commercial success and achievements, a kind of success that makes her as the face of the 2010s in pop music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cx8j79ecQ2c Why doesn't she understand that she does performances SO MUCH BETTER without all the extra pop star bull**** (lights, dancers, pop tunes) Gimme an acoustic album, Katy
feelitinmybones 0
I don't really like Katy Perry at all to be honest... I'm not bashing or anything just have never warmed up to her. I do like some of her songs though, like "I'm Still Breathing" and used to loooove "The One That Got Away". I think she has a lovely voice when it's just her and her guitar. Morphine Prince 103,486
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVsD-tFchD0 Wow, I am surprised. She was really good! She should do more things like this. People online are criticizing her for this but I'm on her side this time :)

Snow 1,582
Ok, I have to admit that I have NEVER really liked any live performance by Katy.... Until now :) This is actually really good one! That's a hard song to make your own, so to speak, yet respect the original and I think she did really well. I especially loved how truly well and honestly she sang the lyrics. I really felt the emotion. Big applause for Katy! (though I'm pretty sure this will be the first and sadly the last performance by her that i truly liked... :p )
DIVA 666
Hey, I don't like Katy, but I think she did a pretty decent job with this performance. We're all Stronger Together!

Whispering 18,865
This was the weakest performance of the night. Twitter was blowing up with comments over how bad it was and people at music sites were calling out the vocals. I'm thinking that a lot of people watched this special, that don't normally listen to Pop music or watch the Awards shows where Katy is using heavy backing tracks. They just know the name and they were shocked that Katy is such a mediocre live singer, where those that have heard her sing live before, just expect it. StrawberryBlond 14,307
Why so hateful against Katy? You only spoke negative things about her like she's an enemy to be put down and I know it's your opinion, which should be respected, but you speak them like they're facts and it's only a biased opinion. Talking about forgettable is ridiculous, since I Kissed A Girl to Roar, her songs could well be in people's minds, why reject them like they're some kind of garbage that don't fit into your musical taste only to belittle Katy's career? Oh and predicting the future doesn't always work, I tell you. Look for articles form the 80's and you'll see how all critics were giving Cindy Lauper a long succesful career that would bury Madonna's. Look where they both are right now. I'm just pointing out the reality of the situation and sometimes, that involves negatives. While some of what I say is opinion, I make that and fact a clear distinction. And the fact remains that Katy's sales and impact is primarily on the US. Yes, people know her songs now because they were released recently and she's current, but what about in ten years, when her music could be very different and pop music isn't as big anymore? It'll take a long time before we can determine if Katy's songs have made a big impact or not, but honestly, the only ones that stand a chance at this moment are I Kissed A Girl and California Gurls. Katy's music is engineered to go to #1 and songs like that tend to be rather forgettable. A whole heap of artists capitalised on the dance music trend over the last few years and a lot went to #1, but...how many can you name now? It's easy to say they'll be remembered when you personally like them, but you have to look at things from a non biased point of view. And believe it or not, I actually really liked Teenage Dream - I bought the re-release. I think it's a good, fun, happy pop album perfect for summer. But I'm not going to call it one of my favourite albums of all time or say it involved great talent or that it's a landmark album for the ages. I'm sure it'll go down in pop history, but not in general music history. The critics really didn't like it, it didn't win any Grammys and a lot of the public thought it was terrible, nothing more than a guilty pleasure at best. Katy's got a long way to go before she becomes a credible artist, let's put it that way. She may have equalled MJ's Bad record, but which album will still be remembered and loved years from now? Bad was re-released in 2012, 25 years after its release, and it sold over a million copies worldwide on the first week. I think that says it all. I didn't include Cyndi as if to suggest she had an amazing career. I know critics thought she would be the bigger star at the time, and they turned out to be wrong, but the point is, the impact that Cyndi had with Girls Just Wanna Have Fun is much bigger than many other popstars entire careers. Plus, she had some other hits that are still being played, sang and loved today like Time After Time and True Colours. I don't claim to know undoubtedly who will still be around years from now or have made the most overall impact, but it's pretty easy to see who it WON'T be and Katy is one of them. Bad 32
I thought she did a good job. People are probably being harder on her since she's a top 40 pop star.
chiuga 1,965
It sounds like she has a very narrow range. Her tone and lower notes are so bad and sound muffled.

Why you talk and make predictions like you're Nostradamus tbh??? Katy's impact is undeniable, even outside of the States, your opinion is only valid by the ones who hate her success! Ya'll deal with that, and keep the underestimating coming... that seems to be her lucky charm TBQFH!!!
