Ahhh the age old debate :omg: Slowly over time I'm seeing it more from his angle I think. Not sure what's right to be honest, it's a pretty deep subject with stuff about reclaiming and history and all that stuff which I'm not the best at :duck:

Back people need to stop using the n word, otherwise it is somewhat okay for others to keep using it. You don't hear Mexicans calling themselves the w word, so it's not okay to call them that.

Black people can use the word in whatever way they want. And yes I do hear Mexicans calling each other the W word as a joke.

It's taking offensive words and making them into words that defy the oppressive past.

I get what he means, but still...it's a word that's going to offend some ppl no matter what (to many ppl it doesn't really matter the situation in which the word is being used, only the word itself). So if he uses it, he better be prepared to get some bad reactions and be cool with it, not complain about it...

I'm kinda cool with it, bc I understand it's being used as a term of endearment...but at the same time, coming from a white guy it's always going weird me out a bit...

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

Sorry about my ignorance, but what's the "w" word?

Wetback is a derogatory term used in the United States for illegal foreigners, most commonly Mexican and Central American nationals, especially to those who have illegal immigration status in the U.S.

Generally used as an ethnic slur, the term was originally coined and applied only to Mexicans who entered the U.S. state of Texas from Mexico by crossing the Rio Grande, which forms the border between Texas and Mexico, presumably by swimming or wading across the river and getting wet in the process.

He is right tbh, if the person doesn't mind, I don't see why anyone else would..

It's the same not very good logic over and over that honestly it's kinda hard to care at this point. It's like me not caring about the word fagg0t doesn't suddenly make it an ok word to use.

I'm more offended by his absolute lack of grammar

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Personally, I think if the person didn't use the word in any degrading/insulting matter, then I don't find it to be a problem.

Im prepared for people to drag me :Madge:

He acknowledges that there obviously are negative implications to using the word, so he does not seem to be totally ignorant. I refrain from using it myself, but as long as he is not hurting anybody through doing so, I do not think that there is much of an issue. He knows what he said, and I think we are all smart enough to know what he meant.

I want to take him seriously, but if I remember correctly he does have a history of actually being a racist/homophobic douche :emma:

He is a rapper correct? I have no interest in telling a poet what words they can and can not use.

We should encourage the condemnation of convictions, ideas, and intentions. We should not condemn words.
