Beyonce's Music May Be Pulled From Tidal

I knew it, Jay wouldn't let Beyonce flop by making a Tidal exclusive album. He's happy to use Rihanna and Nicki as guinea pigs, however. I think this just proves that he and Beyonce are all in this for the money and benefits for them alone. They won't want to flop if they can avoid it, so are happy to jump ship when needed, but to hell with everyone else.

Actually, most of us have researched it, which is why we don't want part of it. We've seen it for the BS it is. It's just another streaming service, albeit an absurdly expensive one. If it's not about artists earning more money, what is it about? The whole point of it, as stated in the mission statement, is to pay artists more money compared to the leading streaming sites. All this claptrap about it being a unique way for artists to connect with their fans and the beginning of music industry evolution was just fancy words to fool the easily led.

Ok, some people were championing illegal downloads, but not everyone was. People like me were pointing out that simply buying (legally) the albums you liked was cheaper than paying for a membership to a streaming service that charges you monthly to merely listen to (not own) music. Lily Allen said that paying this much a month is only worth it if you buy 12 or more albums a year and very little people do that. Some people don't even listen to 12 albums a year. Can you imagine if cinemas charged you the price of buying a DVD to merely watch a film once in a theatre? That's what paying for a streaming subscription basically is. That's why I don't understand why anyone does it. The music is available to listen to for free on YouTube and the free option on Spotify and buying an album as and when you want it is cheaper than paying a monthly rate to listen to it.

Yes, music is valuable, but no one needs to be paid this much to make it. Singers that haven't had a hit in years are still mega rich. Some artists on Tidal live in a mansion, have several cars, yachts, private jets, designer clothes, diamonds, every luxury known to man. And they're still insisting they don't get paid enough. How much more do they want/need? They're never going to spend all their money in a lifetime. A million dollars could last the average person from birth to death. The average A-list artist makes a million dollars per gig on tour. Think about that for a moment and put things into perspective.

I agree with some things you are saying, HOWEVER:

Yes, I believe people should be payed "this much" to make music. And "this much" is really not that much after all. And when you say that singers that haven't had a hit in years still are mega rich, that's simply not true all of the time. Songs alone don't really make much money. Yes, SOME artists are rich as hell and own multiple houses and cars, but that's a VERY small majority of artists in the world. Most of them actually make VERY little money from record sales and streaming, and only big acts make money from touring. only a fraction of all the artists in the world are making that kind of money. And even if you're an a-lister and on the top of the charts, you may not make a million dollars per show. even if the show grosses a lot, there are a LOT of expenses, and depending on what deal you have, the net the artist makes is split between the label, especially if it's a 360, the manager, promoter tour manager, agent, etc.

It's not just about beyonce and jay z, but every other artist who actually deserves to get paid
