While we were left wondering if the casting of women in their 60s and 70s would be a flash in the pan trend, we can now assure you it is not. On Wednesday morning, Katie Grand — the editor of Love magazine who creative directs the campaigns for Marc Jacobs each season — unveiled the newest ads for the New York-based brand, which star none other than Cher. The 69-year-old actress and singer — who accompanied Jacobs to this year's Met Gala — wears a floor-length black gown from Jacobs's dark, moody fall 2015 collection, which was initially inspired by Diana Vreeland's apartment in her later years. Cher has been a fashion industry staple since the '60s, so it's not surprising that she looks fierce in the portraits shot by David Sims. We're not sure whether Cher stars in the campaign solo (we've reached out to Marc Jacobs for more information) or if this is just the first in a series of images with different models, but one thing is certain: other designers are really going to have to pull out the big guns to top this casting come fall.
