angelduuh 480
I think that would be extremely hard...
Ladey Gagz 2,512
You say it as if she can do it whenever she feels like it Be real she has had 3 #1 hits her entire career and you're saying she should do 6 in 1 album because she feels like it It's not realistic. Bad Bromance 5,809
I think it would be amazing for Gaga to break that record, but sadly it's not easy to achieve. Let's just focus on the quality of the music and the critical acclaim and hopefully, more Grammy nominations. If Gaga's lead single goes # 1 and she has three or 4 top 5 singles on the BB Hot 100, and her album sales are massive, I would be so happy for her. Guys, we don't need to beat any record. We just need Gaga to be successful and I know she can be because she's so happy ATM, which will translate into amazing music! I don't care what you think about unless it is about me. Riot Poof 2,236
All I want Gaga to do is make great pop music that attains critical and commercial success. It would be nice if Gaga got even one more #1, but I think it's more important for Gaga to achieve longevity than to worry so much about beating other people's records. Besides, I highly doubt she could match it or beat it after an unsuccessful era. I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. I am something that you'll never understand. Stephen 30,423
I don't really care for #'1's but I would like at least 1 or 2 hit songs with the next album. I miss her on the radio and such. I know she can do it, the question is if she even wants to
Economy 49,534
Im not sure Gaga could even if she tried. thats very hard. you need 2 things: #1 massive hype and support from GP to keep songs populaer and relevant one single after the other to keep that momentum going #2 luck. Some songs dont make it to #1 simply because they were slower growers and simply didnt peak as high in a single week even tho its over-all success was good. Then sometimes a song gets blocked from some other big hit thats shining at the same time (example: Massive hit Bad Romance in many Countries got blocked from #1 cuz of Tik Tok). You gotta avoid landmines of your song peaking at the same time as another massive hit which happens a lot and is impossible to predict So the odds of this are very low
Ronk 14,762
I don't think Gaga particularly cares about Katy's records and lets the quality of the music speak for itself.This. I live outside the space time continuum.
Bradley 59,023
She ain't even 10 years in the biz and we're discussing stuff like this Was Katy already in the business for 10 years when she topped it with Teenage Dream?
Bradley 59,023
I can accept her failing but I can't accept her not trying. Like although Marry the Night only peaked at #29, but it was pretty obvious that she did a lot of promotion and effort into the song, so I didn't feel any regrets in it. G.U.Y., however, was flopped intentionally. And the fact that G.U.Y is one of my favorite songs of hers
Supersonic 49,376
Was Katy already in the business for 10 years when she topped it with Teenage Dream?Do I look like I care about Katy? Yikes.
Bradley 59,023
Do I look like I care about Katy? Yikes. No you said Gaga isn't even in the business for ten years, as if it's impossible to achieve that record if you are a relatively new artist.
HANZ 4,380
she has only had 3 #1s tho and you are asking for 7 #1s for one era? I'm gonna be honest, I don't think she can, lol My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48
giskardsb 12,565
Katy had the "IT" girl momentum and tons of support from radio stations. Some of those songs that hit #1 during that stretch were not good songs, they just benefited from pounding them into peoples heads constantly. LoveandMagic 1,731
I don't equate having #1's as being a successful artist. I equate having great songs and/or impact as markings of success. #1's do not automatically equal quality, nor do quality songs automatically equal chart toppers, so I do not care. I know others see it differently, but as no one I know cares about the charting of songs past and present, I doubt such records will mean much, if any, ten to twenty years from now. No offense to artists like Katy, but I wonder how many songs, deemed classics now, in many genres even charted top 20? I'd say less than online pop forums would like to think.I don't Stan for artists like Katy for a reason. I am not belittling her or artists like her at all, but she is not the same type of artist Gaga is. So it's odd to me that so many people online (monsters or Katy-cats) are obsessed with Gaga either getting on Katy's "level" or "beating her" in terms of charts. Personally I find charts virtually meaningless. Could Gaga get more number 1's? There's no reason to suspect not, but I am more concerned with getting critical acclaim like Grammy's and above all making really great thought-provoking, powerful songs, or insanely infectious bops, or creating something so unique or wild or revolutionary that it has impact. That is what makes a lasting impact that will outlive this generation. That's what makes classics. And that's what separates a musical/legendary artist from a pop star.Besides, I think label execs care more about sales than charts. Plenty of people put out top tens and have lousy sales. I wouldn't care about sales except it leads to more money for tours. But otherwise I wouldn't give a ****. Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."
