I'm not gonna lie, when Katy releases new music I'll be super hyped to hear it. I love Teenage Dream. Prism... not so much, but hey - one album doesn't define an artist.

Katy and her team are an undeniable force, it is certainly true. However, I think it is also worthwhile to note that Gaga has a massive chance of achieving success this time around, her determination is back and she knows what she needs to do. I have faith in her, but again, this isn't about Gaga.

I feel like Prism was just so desperate. I liked a good few songs though, problem is that it was so similar to TD that it just kinda emphasised how underwhelming it was, TD remains my favourite of her works.

Well it's normal to fear Katy because she overshadowed Applause. I think that Gaga will be more successful that her this time tho

Meh i dont really care for Katy anymore. I really doubt that she will perform in new places since shes only really succesful in the US and europe. And it also really depends on if her next album is succesful or not.

You never know. Miley did an only South American tour a couple years ago.

Excited for new stuff from her! I just hope it doesn't overlap with Gaga. Of course like everyone released albums in 2013 so they'll all probably release new ones in 2016 :awkney:

The reach for 3 and 4 :rip:

How releasing California Gurls around the time Gaga was making controversy for being "satanic" with Alejandro would benefit Katy? If you mean by selling better and charting higher, with all the controversy and a California Gurls smashing and taking over, Alejandro still was a huge success: did pretty well on the radio, broke and set a YouTube record with it's music video, peaked at #5 on Billboard Hot 100 and sold pretty well (both US and WW) which is great for a 3rd single.

Nobody really knows for sure that when E.T.'s music video was filmed, but some say it was filmed in late 2010, before Born This Way's music video which was filmed in January of 2011 (not saying anybody copied someone else here).

You can't compare the sales of a 4 year and 8 months old album like Born This Way to the sales of a 1 year and 8 months old album like PRISM. We are not here to say which album is better. That's subjective and would create a endless argument since everyone has a different opinion.

NOOOOO :deadbanana:even a Capitol insider said that when Katy went to write and record PRISM, her goal wasn't to recreate Teenage Dream AT ALL. You should listen to both albums (Teenage Dream & PRISM) in full, and compare their sounds/genres, lyrics, and concepts, then you'll see that both are completely different albums.

Katy didn't do anything revolutionizing with prism and its success is moderate at best compared to Taylor Swift who can demand massive sales in this day and age of illegal downloading.. Taylor manages to top herself with new albums whereas Katy's performance has peaked and is on the decline

Country fans tends to buy the artist albums and Taylor went to full pop so she has support from both fan base. People who liked her during her country, pop country and finally pop are here to support her and bought the album.

Katy kind of did something revolutionizing, but to some people (Monsters), they are here to deny it. Like Katy made Dark Horse type of songs more common. After her hit, more people are following the pop/urban mix (no, I am not denying other artist who have done this, but Katy was really successful with it and more people are following her TREND).

The way for this to not blow out of proportion is for us Little Monsters and Katy Cats to not fight about sales.

Who even brought up Taylor to this argument? Don't get too butthurt, hun. It seems like you can't come up with a coherent and valid argument, so you'll use someone like Taylor, someone who is currently at her 5th era, and compare her to Katy, who is in her 3rd era. The main reason that Taylor's album, 1989, has sold a lot is because she took her music out of Spotify, and fun fact: a lot of her fans bought multiple copies of her album. Katy didn't revolutionized anything with PRISM? As Prismatic said, Katy had a huge success with Dark Horse, a trap/hip hop song. In this day and age which is dominated by pop and dance, and mainstream artists have success with those genres, Katy released Dark Horse and had a huge success with it. And now a lot of artists are following Katy's path with more pop/urban songs, and when you think about it, you hear a lot more urban/pop songs on the radio than you did 1-7 years ago, specially with mainstream musical acts. That's called revolutionizing. Deny it all you want, but that doesn't changes the fact Katy is influencial and revolutionizing. She did it with Dark Horse, PRISM's third single. I don't see any impact from the 1989 era, though. As much as it is successful, it did not revolutionized anything. And you seem to be ignoring all the statistics and facts that I presented in my other comment in this thread, where I prove that Katy hasn't passed her peak and that PRISM is her most successful era yet.

I hope her release clashes with Gaga again just for the sake of seeing this fan base lose its mind. :sharon:
