Mast 980
You need a dictionary to understand ARTPOP? Maybe your should go back to school. In all seriousness, Gaga's lyrics are super simple. I don't understand why people think they're the most cryptic **** ever.
Babel 41,495
I wonder how is Alejandro, a worldwide hit single from the fan favorite album, The Fame Monster, in the slightest, relatable? I wonder how the lyrics "I want your psycho, your vertigo stick, want you in my Rear Window, baby you're sick", or "Ra ra roma roma ma Gaga uh lala" from the smash hit single, fan favorite, gp recognizable and most iconic song from Gaga according to monsters, Bad Romance, in the slightest, relatable? Some of you are claiming relatable lyrics equals a hit song, but Gaga already proved you wrong in the past. Haroon 49,685
Well I don't think it's a "problem" really If that's how she writes her lyrics then that's how she writes her lyrics Plus she explained it in the interview where she says that sometimes it's more about the sound of the words with the music and the melody as opposed to the meaning Not all of the songs are going to be relatable to one specific person, some are in some ways, others simply aren't at all. I don't relate to a few songs on ARTPOP, and I don't really understand the song ARTPOP itself very well - yet it's still one of my favourite songs from the album simply because of how the words and music flow together Oh and even if a song isn't personally relatable, you can still empathise sometimes to get more of a feel for it. I kinda like her kooky lyrics here and there, it may seem random sometimes but it adds character for me. When I first read the lyrics to Venus I thought she'd lost her mind, but then I grew to love them regardless
JazzGa 14,621
I agree that most of her hits and most of my fave songs by her have very relatable lyrics-- "Just Dance"/"Telephone" about partying, "Bad Romance"/"Alejandro" about a rocky relationship etc. I really liked when she dropped the Alfred Hitchcock references in BR, I thought that was very clever. If she is aiming for radio hits she should definitely do that. But then again Venus is a masterpiece and its lyrics are total nonsense That chorus tho My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <
Ferrer Zorola 3,966
Sadly, I agree, but I think ARTPOP is more literal than born this way. I mean what does "skeleton guns are wedding bells in the attic" even mean? LIFE IS GOOD
Haroon 49,685
brb, one second I'm a koons, suddenly the koons is me. "Wow, same!!" - said no one ever. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Omg I can't stop re-reading that and laughing I love that line though, but more because of the change in pacing & rhythm as opposed to the actually lyrics
Haroon 49,685
But if the next album is like ARTPOP, you can count me out. If she puts out another pop album, I'll be in my own corner with my music that actually makes me feel less alone. Music that reminds me that I am not my anxieties. I wouldn't imagine that an artist should mould their work around a fan's needs, and fans shouldn't mould themselves according to an artist's work either All we can do as fans is hope that what the artist releases falls within our range of enjoyment If it does then YAAAY If it doesn't then oh well, maybe next album
Nicole 1,809
She writes songs for herself, she doesn't need to conform to what certain fans want. It's fine if you don't enjoy lyrics on a certain album but you shouldn't expect her to change her style because of a few fans.
Gagaloo911 12,959
Not here for Gaga writing basic songs. This /thread
CannaeDrive 3,412
I will never understand that thing about a song being "relatable". That is not the point of a song or music, I can easily appreciate and enjoy a song without it to be "relatable", and what does that mean anyway? I can think of dozens of songs that I like having no relation with my own experiences or tastes or things I couldn't understand. It's irrelevant to appreciate music. VFD 57
I disagree completely. The whole "relatable" discussion is kind of ridiculous. I don't need to suffer a d--g addiction to relate to Dope. Or to face the same difficulties as Gaga's to feel empowered by Marry The Night. And frankly, the one thing I don't like about TIHTY is how vague the lyrics are. They are so ambiguous that it doesn't go anywhere. I know she didn't write it, but still.

Yanko 9,860
Stop trying to convince me that ARTPOP is relatable, you're so embarrassing. brb, one second I'm a koons, suddenly the koons is me. "Wow, same!!" - said no one ever.
