This. The lack of knowledge and a--lysis is real. :toofunny:

excuse me? how about you read my post PROPERLY. I was clearly implying that you cant live on Gas planets and that the next solid planet was pluto which is too far away. I will never understand why people feel the need to be so shady on this site,

Isn't it sad that in like a few hundred thousand years the sun will expand more and more and the eart, the planet this is our legacy (in good and bad things because we obviously destroyed williningly) will become hotter and hotter, s-xy and hotter let's shut it down POUND THE ALARM

The lack of proper information in this thread is hurting my brain. I'm currently studying astrophysics in university, and my dream is to work for a space agency, and let me tell all of you the truths that you think are "not possible.

First of all, the sun isn't going to turn into a red giant in a few hundred thousand years. It's going to in approx 10-100 million + years. Even that's a short time for the sun.

Mars has no breathable atmosphere, meaning it's very much like a vacuum on the surface. If you weren't wearing a pressurized spacesuit, you would be vacuumed out. On the plus side, this "tent" idea might work, but it would need a proper ventilation system for the excess oxygen, or else the bacteria and life would die, and/or combust from pressure difference.

Life on the Gas Giant's moons is extremely possible. Ganymede would be the safest to terraform, because it has a very thin atmosphere already, plus the only moon in our solar system with a magnetic field to protect itself from intense solar radiation. As we know it, Europa is a water world; however, the surface is frozen. If we found a way to warm up the surface (greenhouse gasses) we could melt the frozen surface and produce a hydrogen and oxygen based atmosphere. Sadly, no land able surface though.

There's also Titan, which has a very thick atmosphere, and the only moon known to have liquid oceans. However, this is a methane + ethane based moon. Life as we know it comes from carbon atoms; but this doesn't rule out the fact that methane and ethane can produce their own kind of life forms, especially if there's liquid oceans and a pressurized atmosphere.

If anyone has any problems, come to me. The one thing I hate is when people get their space information wrong.
