​but by then when the sun expands, mars will pretty much be as close to the sun as mercury is, now. meaning it would be too hot for human life, or any life at all. And all the planets behind it are gas giants with no hard surface, besides pluto which is too far away. i guess we could live on one of Jupiter/Saturns moons one day tho 

​I didn't mean the literal death of the sun in 5 billion years, I meant when the sun was beginning its death throws. Earth would gradually get hotter and hotter, as would every other planet. Mars, for a short period, would be ideal because the heat would release more CO2 into the atmosphere, heating it up even more, ice at the poles and in the soil would melt, and it'd be like an Earth 2.0 until the sun made it too hot. Then we'd really have no choice but to live among the stars or find an extra solar planet.

This is pretty cool, next step should be terraforming of Mars as to make it totally habitable by humans. Reminds me of Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson, now an SF classic: Mars trilogy.

I think that part is a bit silly tho, as Mars is pretty much a dead planet (until proven otherwise), so there's no contamination per se, and, on the contrary, bringing life over there. This is just PC BS pandering.

​but the conditions are not good on those. like its way too cold even if the sun extends. When the planet is between sun and the inhabited moon its will get freaking cold there.
