Both of these songs performed very similarly and continue to be heard to this day. Applause is shown in various media and entertainment outlets while The Edge of Glory is still used in singing competitions and as an anthem.

Which of the two made a bigger impact?

The Edge of Glory.

Applause was only good for the first month after release. It has a great music video, however. I cannot listen to Applause anymore. It doesn't tickle my fancy anymore.

However, TEOG (even though the music video is not that good) it is a timeless song in Gaga's discography.

In my messy era.

It's a good comparison. As far as songwriting, they're both second-tier Gaga (tremendous ideas, strong production, but the lyrics would benefit from one more draft). And while "The Edge of Glory" was more instantly embraced, I feel like "Applause" will have more relevance in the future.

For me personally it's Applause.

It's a slow grower that continues to get better after each listen. I didn't fully appreciate the song until months after the album came out!

The Edge of Glory is a song that only works on certain times when I'm in the mood. When you're down or just need a little push to get back up. Raise your fist in the hand like Gaga does in the music video!

Cause once you let it go you better know it's gone

I'd say Applause. They barely played TEOG here in Michigan.

The Edge of Glory may still get airplay but it's nowhere as iconic as Applause. Applause started a revolution. It was the ultimate "i love my fans" statement. With the video, the outfits and the make up, Applause was a movement more than just a song.

The Edge of Glory ofc. It was a bigger hit than Applause.
