Why has Gaga never performed at the Billboard Music Awards?

They only brought back the awards show after BTW (2011).  She hasn't really had the credentials to win recently.

It's only been "back" since 2011, but I don't know. I can see why she wouldn't have been at the 2012-2015 shows, but she could've promoted the BTW release in 2011 (although she was already EVERYWHERE at the time).

2013 - No single

2014 - DWUW had already peaked

It's only been "back" since 2011, but I don't know. I can see why she wouldn't have been at the 2012-2015 shows, but she could've promoted the BTW release in 2011 (although she was already EVERYWHERE at the time).

When the Billboard Music Awards was relaunched in 2011, it was the same week as the album release of BTW and Gaga was hell busy promoting the album across various radio stations during that time, in addition to the already jam-packed promotional line-up they had during the album release week. There's no way she'd have the time to appear on May 22nd in Nevada. Her promo appearances ranged from the UK to NYC to Canada to LA (and the list goes on and on), it was just too much.

In May 2012, Gaga was touring Asia with the BTW Ball Tour. An appearance was, once again, impossible. Not to mention, she had no radio single at that time for her to promote anyway.

In May 2013, she was recovering from a hip injury. So again, it's obvious she couldn't attend, nor there's a need for her to be invited by Billboard to begin with. 

In May 2014, she was in Cleveland, Ohio for the artRave tour. She was obviously miles away from Nevada. And given how her records performed on the Billboard charts in 2013, as opposed to the records of her contemporaries, there was no urgency for her to appear at an awards show where the strongest commercial triumphs are being celebrated. I mean, why choose an awards show for her to watch others win when she can be with her fans who love her no matter how she performed on the Billboard charts?

With these said, I'd say the most probable reason why she's been notably absent from the award ceremonies is not because of Billboard 'hating' her but more of due to the presence of the timing conflicts between the awards show's preferred date and Gaga's own schedule.

Well, that's true. I just remember a year or so ago I was searching for her and the BB Music Awards, but found nothing.. I didn't know what was up. Seemed odd to me, but that all makes sense! Shame she couldn't perform in 2011 though, would have been nice.
