Economy 52,958
im surprised my Country ranks that high... Funny thing is here in Canada by law theres like no oppression whats so ever... They have all the rights a normal person has. getting married, legal commonlaw benefits, adoption etc you name it the law is also strict against discrimination and that includes s-xual orientation there as well... So the law is on our side However a high percentage of the population in most populated regions is immigrants from China, India, Pakistan, Jamaica, Ghana, Nigeria etc depending where you live And most of those immigrants which make up a pretty high percentage of the population are not pro-gay at all. They law may be in our favor but many people are not.

Economy 52,958
So Scandinavia will always be ahead of the rest of humanity...? Let's all kill ourselves and try to be born there in the next life...depends on what. On same s-x issues they are slightly ahead but for isntance... i wonder how they are in terms of racism, stereotypes or acception diversity in religions etc For isntance i live in the Toronto area (ranked #1 most multicultural city in the world in case you didnt know). Theres so much diversity its hard to call anyone a true miniority... Most people dont even see the different colours of skin and backgrounds etc, theyve become blind to them Scandinavia is not very diverse in backgrounds as they have historically not accepted as many immigrants as many other developed Nations Id be curious to see how they are in terms of that. People may say they support equality and arent racist... but some ppl who believe in equal treatment for everyone in theory, dont always necessarily have a total judgement free mind themselves

People may say they support equality and arent racist... but some ppl who believe in equal treatment for everyone in theory, dont always necessarily have a total judgement free mind themselves I have a friend whose wife is Swedish and he goes there from time to time to see her family...so he told me that there are some issues concerning immigration, specially from islamic countries. It seems that it's a common practice among those immigrants to commit small crimes so they can go to jail, because prisoners there receive a pension from the gov.. They send this money to their families, stay incarcerated, don't spend any money, and when they're released they re-start the whole cycle again...what you said reminded me of this :P And that's just one problem, there are many others, of course...so yeah, I think there probably is some form of discrimination towards foreigners, but it's not exclusive to them... People may say they support equality and arent racist... but some ppl who believe in equal treatment for everyone in theory, dont always necessarily have a total judgement free mind themselves Very true! Like here in Denmark people aren't openly racist if you are white or maybe from a Christian culture because it's similar somehow, but I would hate to a muslim or an immigrant from the Middle East or India. I think they really have a problem with Muslim there is a big clash between the culture and it's not just new immigrants it seems rooted. For example in my work I was in different school of the capital that is supposed to be where there is the most diversity well I was shocked by the fact that kids from immigrants don't mix with the Danes, like people stick to their own kind which is pretty scary. My self I am from France and you can feel the difference, they are quite suspicious with immigrants I don't know exactly why. So racist is more subtle but it exists and the overall feeling I got as an immigrant there is that at the end Danes or Danish culture are better than the others. The fact that their society function well for them doesn't help that feeling of being entitled. hmm 979
Japan and South Korea are much lower than I expected I guess I don't know much about how they treat the gays... I thought both were known as being pretty conservative cultures? A quick google shows that neither have any form of recognised partnership (either marriage or civil partnership) and neither have nationwide anti-discrimination laws - at Scandinavia though as expected

They seem pretty open about s-xuality.It actually seems like they are on pretty much the same level as much of the United States, but the US has been making some major changes recently so I guess it makes sense that they would be lower.
