I had interesting discussions about this before, like you notice how she is absolutely not fierce during the ARTPOP era, except for the Jingle Bell Ball performance. Now ppl can see a part of her that everyone knew was there, but that they didn't get to actually see...Come to think of it, that's the **** about Gaga: she can NEVER be right...if she's the way she was before, ppl say she's pretentious, annoying and just an act; if she's the way she's now ppl say she's boring, basic, uninteresting - not considering the fact that she's basically in a extended vacation period (from her pop career, at least)... But, knowing Gaga as intimately as we know her now, that aesthetic clashes with who Stefani is at her core: more wild and uninhibited and vulnerable than she let on at first. I don't think she's lost a thing over the years. If anything, she has gained more nuance as a performer and dimension as an artist. Well stated dear! Hauser 1,262 Posted May 12, 2015 Share Posted May 12, 2015 I agree, I realized this change and lacking quality to her when she went through her "screw pop music" phase during ARTPOP becuase it underperformed and she wanted to have a tantrum. During The Fame she was pop and the Gaga of 2009/2010 would never be caught dead saying or acting the way 2013/2014 Gaga was acting during ARTPOP. She really did lose something in the transition for BTW to AP but hopefully with the qualities that she has lost I think we have seen her gain even better qualities (The Oscars performance for example) that I think will result in a more mature album and personality. I have always believed that the early stuff and robotic sound were to grab our attention so she could later be able to SING and have peoples attention. If she came out singing jazz no one would know her right now. She had to grab attention. One thing I admittedly like less is that before Taylor she would say all she had was her music and her fans and its all she cared about. She put her whole life and everything into it. Now it does seem a bit on the back burner to Taylor and the wedding and whatnot. But you have to move on and not be selfish. She wants us to think that Gaga is gone and then when she comes out with her next album she will SLAY us all and we will all feel foolish for believing that LADY GAGA was gone.
