I came here to say 'music not the bling' but then I remember she doesn't write her songs. Stick with the generic good stuff.

I'm hoping Rihanna doesn't compromise her artistic goals. She's had such massive success in the past, she can afford to take risks right now. I hope she will stand by her work, even if the public considers it a flop or no good. Every artist should make at least one album that is exclusively them and without compromise, I feel. I don't care if they get the help of other writers or producers, but I want them making the important decisions of their work and shaping and molding it to exactly the kind of outcome they want. If I were her, I would get better management or PR or whomever to help her with promotion and publicity. Then, if all else fails and she doesn't get at least a single hit, she can still claim that she stood on her own and made exactly the kind of music she wanted. And then, should she so chooses, can go back to making pure radio hits.

I always hate seeing artistic ambitions "fail" in the public's or critic's eye. I want some form of validation for an artist who tries to push themselves creatively.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

Not usually. Rated R was the only album thus far where she helped pen nearly every track. I think this one was following suit.

Well said, I'd be disappointed if she falls prey to public opinion and rework the album to "fit in" like her previous efforts do. Standing up for sth is much more essential even if it fails. Hell it's a question of self-respect. She needs to defend her position as an artist.

I still want to listen to the full album when it comes out. But so far I don't like any of the songs she's released so far.

As a stan I'm going nuts. Literally nuts. How are you going to release the first single 4 months ago and still not have the album out. This era is a disaster, I didn't want to see it at first, but now I am. It's so messy and disorganized and it sucks because it seems like she doesn't care.
