Oh my god. Is this real? That's so rude of them. ;oo

I think I read it in one of her biographies, not sure which one!

Honestly? All of them. If anything I guess The Fame had the least, not because she didn't have "control" per say but since it was her debut she had to play the formula of the game a bit. But I think every era was totally her doing.

Not The Fame lol. The label apparently told her they wanted a song called Paparazzi-- according to Rob Fusari (which I know might make it hard to believe lol)

Gaga barely had control in the btw era. I mean she even admitted the single choices were ****ed up and she had a specific order for them (btw, marry the night, scheisse, edge of glory). The edge of glory video not being truly what she wanted it to be due to creative differences and so she had to rush and come up with a rushed video that disappointed many. She loves the song you and i but she clearly didnt want it as a single but the label wanted her to release a song that is different than the dance music shes put out and it was a moderate hit but the video felt so half assed and too contrived to the point where I felt like a middle schooler was directing it. I think (well I hope) that the next era she will have the most creative control in her career and stays that way.

Definitely Born This Way.

I feel like during The Fame she had a little influence, but her label and management very much had the power over her. After she proved her staying power with Bad Romance, I think Telephone-Alejandro is when The Powers That Be began to really have confidence in her and allow her more control. 2010-2011 she was unstoppable, and really started going against the grain. That HAD to be her doing. I just find it unbelievable that her label would be behind that.

ARTPOP was really the fallout from Born This Way. Her label/management became more reluctant to give her power because she's a risk taker and some of her risks damaged her "brand." Her control was reigned in quite a bit and there was some extremely obvious behind the scenes tension between Gaga and her people.

The Fame Monster / Born This Way.

She had limited authority in making her own decisions in The Fame, and even more limited in ARTPOP.

Born This Way allowed her to roam because her management knew her creativity rubbed off after the success of The Fame Monster.

In my messy era.

I'm not sure why so many ppl wrote BTW....they didn't let her release the singles she wanted, and she wanted to make the fame commercial into the Scheibe MV just for the fans but the label didn't allow it...seems pretty restricted to me

Really surprised that so many of you voted for TF and AP. I think her features of Flo Rida on TF and R Kelly, Guetta and will.i.am on AP (along with almost everything else that era) will tell you how much control she had.

Whoever came up with the idea of R. Kelly, it was a brilliant one. Maybe not from a commercial standpoint, due to the controversy, but it was a significant improvement over the original version without him. As for Guetta and will.i.am, I would agree if their contribution to "Fashion!" was more distinctive. It's really hard to tell that they had anything to do with it (which is not a bad thing).

BTW/ARTPOP considering that BTW, TEOG and MTN are one of her worst videos and ARTPOP is her worst era- musically and visually
