yeah but she's judging and criticizing current white people for something that happened centuries ago and that's just wrong

also her generalizations are tragic

Because current white people still vastly benefit from that system and refuse to change the status quo that still marginalize racial minorities.

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Somewhat unrelated:

"The American Anthropological Association recommends the elimination of the term 'race' from OMB Directive 15 during the planning for the 2010 Census. During the past 50 years, 'race' has been scientifically proven to not be a real, natural phenomenon. More specific, social categories such as 'ethnicity' or 'ethnic group' are more salient for scientific purposes and have fewer of the negative, racist connotations for which the concept of race was developed."

"Yet the concept of race has become thoroughly—and perniciously—woven into the cultural and political fabric of the United States. It has become an essential element of both individual identity and government policy. Because so much harm has been based on 'racial' distinctions over the years, correctives for such harm must also acknowledge the impact of 'racial' consciousness among the U.S. populace, regardless of the fact that 'race' has no scientific justification in human biology. Eventually, however, these classifications must be transcended and replaced by more non-racist and accurate ways of representing the diversity of the U.S. population."

Thoughts on that since you incorporated anthropology?

A friend of mine is an anthropologist an he explained this to me while he was in town for an anthropology conference last month. :) The idea is based on the fact that what we view as "Race" bears no relevance to genetics. Genetically, we are the same.
It's the idea of viewing diversity in culture based on social actions, customs, and expression of culture instead of on skin color. 'Ethnicity' relates more to cultural background than skin color, which anthropologists believe is more valid in discussing/labeling social groups than 'race.'

Does she realize that slavery also has its roots in the Middle East. It's also proven that Afro-Africans did slavery upon their own kind before whites arrived there?  It's just not as reported because the barely wrote things down.

I'll count on you to educate them.

Goodnight.

Tell me how white people in countries like Lithuania,Estonia benefit from white privilege? They've been under occupation of other countries all the time. (Russia or Germany). Or what about Jews in Europe? They never enslaved someone, but there was a genocide against them ?  Imo it's awful to put every white in the same category.

I agree that "white" privilege exists, but it's not one single definition that can be singled to the whole "white" race. It varies from region to region from culture to culture.

This nasty bitc|-| seems to forget that every person is individual, and just because former generations of people did stupid things, doesn't mean that all others with similar qualities (skin color etc.) would do the same

Damn, I'd love to give this hoe a slap in her face, not because I'm white, or male, or european, but because she needs to wake up and realize others are not responsible for her own dissatisfaction she probably feels in her life right now.

and btw....if I am correct, I believe having heard about black slavery masters aswell, not just whites, just saying

This is more about history of USA. Focus on that.

But I will give you one example. People from Balkan who moved to USA 20-30 years ago, give comments on their origin country's media articles about black issues and police brutality in USA; you know what they say?

They say "these blacks CHOOSE to be poor and criminals. We live here(America) and it's great, you can study, with hard work anyone can live good. Homeless people just chose to be homeless. They are just stupid and lazy. If you want to work, there is always work."

That's how white Europeans (from Balkan, in this case) show ignorance of their privilege.

As I said that I do believe in white privilege (especially in the USA) but I also think that it has to do with region and also prejudices.

Its need to be stopped but generalization and violence are sending the wrong message and will only make each side even more stubborn

I'm really not sharp enough on my history to make an accurate comment, but I think spending one day a year supporting black owned businesses only as a personal tribute to MLK is not racist.

You always come into these arguments and try to go at it without any nuance. We are discussing racial politics in the U.S., I know nothing about the systems of different countries and therefore do not comment on them.

Kind of off topic but wasn't Ghandi was a racist pedophile? Kind of ironic :laughga:

MLK used his non-violence tactics in the US during the Civil Rights era, btw.

Wait, what did Ben Affleck do? Why is he being mentioned?

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

Mahatma Gandhi is literally a pedophile rapist that has been glorified by western media for non violently protesting violent institutions

Wait, what did Ben Affleck do? Why is he being mentioned?

He tried to hide the fact that some of his ancestors owned slaves.
