LePetitGAGABLover 21,234
She's talking about the past where majority if not almost all white people were racist "The past." What about what she said here. She's implying that all white people still do this
PEXI 250
yeah but she's judging and criticizing current white people for something that happened centuries ago and that's just wrongalso her generalizations are tragicFrom what I see he's criticizing the attitudes of white people today which is to avoid these arguments and to blatantly criticize what black people are doing for their own cause. However I do think she should organize her points cuz she didnt really have a focal point in these tweets. thought I was born in a league of my own | but I'm sinking

Prometheus 1,494
nnnn I hadn't even clicked "Show Replies" and I knew SOMEONE would bring up s-xuality. But seeing as you recognize privilege, it makes it better. But she didn't even say all white people. So you and her are kinda on the same page. I just think people are starting to find s-xuality to be a normal variant now. Even people in the GSM/LGBT+ community are starting to say the only true s-xual/gender minorities are trans* people and ace individuals. Interminority policing and oppression is such a headache.
PEXI 250
"The past." What about what she said here. She's implying that all white people still do this Well the people in power who are white still have big control over these areas but she should have pointed out that only the white people in power are doing this. But don't act like we don't generalize black people and get away with it. thought I was born in a league of my own | but I'm sinking
Kayla 7,595
I'm also gonna need to call up @Kayla to provide some unbiased tea from both sides of the spectrum. Oh god the pressure is real. Interminority policing and oppression is such a headache. I can assure you, I'm not one of those people. I still realise and am vocal about the subtle as well as obvious discrimination people of the LGBT+ community face daily. But it's like there's a privilege chart. If you're white, straight, cis and male, you're at the top of that chart. But if you're a black, transgirl lesbian, then you're prolly the least privileged of them all. So if you're a white, cis, GAY male, then you're far from being at the top but still have it way better than a black lesbian transgirl. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢
Supersonic 49,376
We (white people) in general, are really quick to say "Oh that was so long ago, that doesn't happen today anymore. Why can't we all just get along, we all bleed red." (Despite people like MLK being just my grandfather's generation.)To me it seems hypocritical to be all like "let's come together and hold hands" when our ancestors from not too long ago benefited from exploiting, violating and killing black people (directly and indirectly). A symbolic public figure to at least apologize would be a great step into the right direction. (I might remind you that German chancellor begging on his knees for forgiveness ultimately led to Poland and Germany kinda being BFFs despite the holocaust.) Supersonic 49,376
It really feels like nobody feels responsible for the ongoing opression that black people face, which triggers responses as such. Everbody's just looking around and whistling thinking "Well, it ain't my fault, I ain't got nothin to do with this, but why do black people always seem so thuggish" while black people are literally massacred by police in the streets and low-income black neighborhoods are systematically destroyed by corportations for charming lil hipster appartments in the "bad part" of the city. I totally agree, but some people like to say I have all around privilege, but... I don't have abled privilege.I don't have straight privilege. I just don't like when people disenfranchise me because I'm white CIS-male. I understand the dynamics of my several privileges. White privilege.Gender identity privilege.Sex privilege.Class privilege. And it's not just me. It's something I've noticed in many others, especially within the GSM/LGBT+ community. The number of people who say a gay male faces no discrimination amazes me.
DrewStevens 5,249
I understand her point but she is wrong in many things.1. European is not a race. Caucasian is the race she is referring to.2. In ancient Egypt slavery was inherited from parent to child. Other cultures did the same thing.3. Saint Patrick's Day day is not made up and it's an actual official public holiday in Ireland. It has been celebrated since the 17th century.4. There are many people form the LBGT and black people who are Republicans. It has nothing to do with being a cis gender white male cause there are many of them who are democrats. It's not that I don't agree with some things, it's that you have to know what you are talking about before trying to make such statements. EDIT: I'm no way discrediting her point of view because I know racism and privilege are real, but that doesn't mean I'm going to ignore the fact that she is wrong about other things. lego 44,165
Oh my This about to start a **** storm. @lego @amenvodka @MarryTheSequins get in here guys. OT: I get what she's saying. I agree with a lot of it (but going out of your way to not support white businesses is undeniably racist). I just think the way she said it was a bit harsh. How did you get me into this? I agree with second paragraph. Don't expect majority on GGD to agree tho. Btw her account is private, how do we know if all these screenshots are real? Supersonic 49,376
I'm also very sad how people are nitpicking against her valid arguments and statements because they're not historically accurate enough. Doesn't change the fact that the general issue she addresses is an issue that has to be fixed.
