They're just doing what they think they need to in order to remain at the top of the music distribution food chain. They want to be the top/best streaming service that people go to first, just like iTunes is the go-to digital music store. It's capitalism, just how things work in the business world.And considering they have the money, power, and means to properly compensate artists for their streams while also keeping the price of a subscription low and competitive, I have a feeling they'll succeed.
