Kayla 7,595
Valid point. If threads were made in the Entertainment section such as "Ariana looks anorexic" or "Madonna's scary arms", etc...they would have been shut down quickly due to Flamebait. Yet, these types of threads have existed for Gaga for months and years. To be fair, there was a time when we were hella strict about stuff like that and people said we weren't allowing opinions, that we were censoring them, that they should be able to talk about the good AND bad of how they felt towards Gaga. There's a fine line to walk along when it comes to what kinds of things are allowed to be discussed.
Psychedelic 1,098
The way that thread was presented was a mess, they were mocking Gaga in a very rude way. Had it been op'ed like "I don't like this Gaga look" or whatever, I'd be fine... I mean sometimes when I don't like the way my mom or my sister do their hair or make up, I go up and tell them "this doesn't suit you" and guess what? They THANK me.So being opinionated about Gaga needing a better style adviser or anything in that type, wouldn't have to be seen as hating on her. It isn't about her weight, I believe Adele always looks amazing and she's several pounds above Gaga's weight. But this type of opinion wasn't that thread's case, so anyone being offended by it and its op, is completely entitled to complaining.
Ronk 14,762
The irony of "we need to love and respect everyone" etc, yet cannot do so to one another.This. And the irony that Gaga's fans don't follow her message of always being kind and positive. We can't pick and choose when to be kind and positive, we must do so in all circumstances or nothing will change. We can help Gaga with her goal of changing the world for the better, just by following her message and her lead. Kindness spreads by showing people kindness instead of meanness in real circumstances. Countering mean and rude posts with mean and rude responses just adds to the hate and is the opposite of Gaga's message. I live outside the space time continuum. Oh but then the hole damn fan base gets dragged into this antagonizing stereotype and people use it as an excuse to "not like Gaga."Funny how that works. They're allowed to make fun of and shade Gaga under the pretext of "having an opinion" and "just joking around," but they're on every thread of the entertainment section policing people's negative opinions of other pop stars. The thread earlier today was mockery, not opinion. To be honest, users should be penalized for that. Zero tolerance. For Gaga and other pop stars alike. Let them complain about the "strictness." It isn't a matter of being too strict, it's a matter of holding some sort of standard of decency and civility.
Dominic 11,922
I am so sick of some fans having a superiority complex on here because they care for 'the music not the bling'. Well I care about both, I want great music but I want Gaga to get the commercial credit. Gaga'a career suffered a lot during ARTPOP because of the music not the bling. And can we please stop being naive, Gaga wants a #1. She shamelessly plugged Applause copious times and even stated to Carly she wanted to claim her thrown back during BTW era. Bigger success does not mean it must be bad music it simply means better production and budget and Gaga getting the recognition she deserves. Gaga is quite a contradictory person so it's hard to live in a black and white world. There's also a lot of grey. The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

Yanko 9,860
I'm so tired of Medonsters, they'll stand by Madge through anything, even s-xual assault and flopping into another dimension, yet Gaga gets judged for breathing. And people like Jjang who like Ariana, no matter how basic her music is, yet say Gaga's music lacks depth. so everyone who likes madonna should leave? what kind of stupid statement

It isn't a matter of being too strict, it's a matter of holding some sort of standard of decency and civility. I see people bringing up how we allow people to make fun of and shade Gaga but police entertainment, implying that we care more about the negative things people say about another artist. Here's the thing- no one, not a single soul, is sitting in Modland saying "You know, we should let them bash Gaga but be strict about other artists," or "Let's allow negativity towards Gaga but not other artists." Then people should have the same option to express their negative opinions on other artists. If the good and bad is allowed towards Gaga, the same should be allowed towards every other artist. I agree with this. But what I notice is that when people flame/diss/drag other artists it's usually blatantly rude without "constructive" criticism. Whereas when I see people being ignorant/rude about Gaga, I'm sitting here rolling my eyes and wanting to flick them away, but they're usually giving reasonings and/or not using actual insults. Like saying someone is the "queen of cheesiness and is basic AF" about another artist, obviously warnable. But, about Gaga, we get things more like:"I really can't understand. We know she works out, do yoga etc. Sorry but she looks kinda bad in that picture. Maybe dress, lighting or angle but whole package is not looking good and feeling fine." - a constructive way of stating a negative opinion, obviously not warnable."She needs to see her coach asap ! ^^ " - ignorant, but is it warnable?"That dress... Gaga needs to fire someone" - not warnable."Bad hair, bad makeup and looks like she got weight again " - I WANT to tell this member to STFU, I'd LOVE to give him a warning, but is it really violating rules? They think the hair and makeup is bad, okay, and in the picture it did look like she gained weight. "Her weight is fine... this look on the other hand [:awkney:] " - they're not dissing Gaga, they don't like the look. Not warnable."She looks like a damn mess" - warnable, as it's not stated constructively and comes off as just an insult. Also, in the thread about Gaga's "new figure," many of the comments were neutral or not even focusing on Gaga. (some brought up lupus, others referred to the OP, someone said they don't care about her weight but think the way it fluctuates isn't healthy, etc.) 17 people were negative or unsupportive18 were neutral, constructive, or spoke both to the positive and negative40 members were positive and/or supportive of Gaga - these members also got the most Likes for their posts.6 made posts that were unspecific or not even about Gaga or her lookOf those 17 negative/unsupportive members, two were warned. Others fell into the categories that the annoying posts in the spoiler did- ignorant, wish they were more supportive, but not warnable. (And many of them got dragged by the majority who were sticking up for Gaga)On the other hand, 20% of the posts in that thread were unsupportive, which I think is too much. But again, it falls into that thin line between allowing negative opinions by people who are indeed fans and censoring rudeness. In that thread, 1 out of every 5 posting members were being unsupportive. I'd rather see it be 1 out of every 10, if we have to have those kinds of people here. But I don't want to have to punish every little thing or simply not allow ANY negative opinions to accomplish that.
