Emvee 8,357
Applause did very well thoI didn't say Applause didn't do well.
djBuffoon 12,115
I don't see why not. It's catchy as hell, adheres to Gaga's signature sound (it is exactly her style through and through), and it would have sounded amazing on the radio.

TheFame Monster 8,924
The reason G.U.Y. didn't perform well was because of timing that was it. It should have been obvious to Intercourse that you don't release a $250K music video and then release the song to radio three weeks later. The hype died down by then. Dorothy Gale 7,575
The song just wasn't really that good (face it Little Monsters. Gaga can and has done better). GUY is better than any song off of Prism though.

SlaeUrAnus 15,955
It was played a lot by a major station here in the UK and it still flopped What radio station do you listen to? I have listened to the radio practically every day since 2010 and I have never once even heard G.U.Y. I listen to Radio 1, Capital, Heart, TFM, and Metro. I have not even heard Applause or DWUW In my messy era.
MGC 226
Mmh I love g.u.y, it still gives me chills, but I don' t think it is that radio friendly. It's a little weak in the chorus, which I like because it has that ARTPOP/s-xxx dreams sensuality, but if you don' t know the whole album you can't relate the things. ARTPOP in my opinion wasn't radio friendly for the tastes of 2 yrs ago, except for Applause, Gypsy, DWUW and MANiCURE. If it was released in late 2012 it would have seriously smashed(at that time EDM was in full force, at least in Europe).
Fame Romance 10,517
I always forget about this epic performance. She has done better performances imo, idk she sounds like tired and her dancing isn't very energetic in that performance.
Phlop 4,773
Well she didn't promote it at all. And it didn't help releasing the video a month and a half before its impact date. She should've performed it on Jimmy Kimmel or something. I don't think it was the best choice, should've gone with Venus/Gypsy/Sexxx Dreams (basically what most of the fanbase was rooting for), but it's a fun song and could've done far better. blacklistedd 599
The song had literally every single reason to do well on the charts. The only reason it didn't achieve anything was because it was by Lady Gaga. Thats it. I don't care what any other asshole on this forum says about it not being a good single choice or whatever other nonsense. There was literally no reason it shouldn't have been up there with Timber and Dark Horse and all the other basic **** that filled the top 10 at the time. It was on par with all of them. It was made for radio. People just did not want to consume her and radio djs didnt either. It had nothing to do with the song itself. Had radio djs forced it down everyones throats anyway like they do with every other popular artist than people would've consumed it.

Quark 7,098
No.Apart from it being mistaken for 's-x', Gaga basically was flogging a dead era. G.U.Y did not flop because it was not on the radio, it flopped because the GP was not here for Gaga anymore. No chance, the GP didn't like it. The GP and the fans have completely different taste...But how do you know people would not have liked this song if they never really heard it or knew about it? Dann 354
Tho G.U.Y. could have worked better as maybe Lead single, And then Applause, DWUW, VenusAnd end the era with a Gypsy video as last single as well. ARTPOP is a great great piece of music and art, I will love it forever, Does it really matter this days?Love the music Gaga gives us enjoy the fun of it, ARTPOP for me is a pain go away, It's a really a fantastic record after all for ppl who just loves her style, and knows the the good pop music, "**** U POP MUSIC, THIS IS ARTPOP".
