blacklistedd 599
Why should Lady Gaga speak out for Madonna when all she did was kick her when she was down? She doesn't deserve Gaga's support.
blacklistedd 599
The article touches a topic that is larger than just Lady Gaga, though, she's just handed as an example because she's viewed as the new Madonna, meaning despite age differences, comparisons are still as relevant between the two.Its about this new generation of artists sticking up to Madonna, which they're not obligated to do obviously, but it would be refreshing to witness, because (if) they continue to be as relevant as Madonna is after many years & are still passionate about expressing themselves in their own individual manner, they will most likely be met with the same criticism and judgement.Stop being so narrow minded each time you see the word Madonna next to Lady Gaga ffs.I don't think its being narrow minded though. Why should Lady Gaga speak out for Madonna when all Madonna did was kick her when she was down? She doesn't deserve Gagas support and I don't think Gaga deserved to be specifically called out with implications that she should. There may be a bigger issue at hand here that Gaga will face one day, but to be honest Gaga gets plenty of **** as it is. Its not like Madonna has it worse than everyone else. Its not like Madonna is the only female artist out there experiencing ageism either. Its always about Madonna, its always about coddling Madonna, im just so over the coddling as much as im over the hate towards her. I think theres a pretty significant balance actually between the criticism Madonna receives and the immense support she receives that no other female artist would. In the scope of female pop artists shes so favored and privileged by comparison. It doesnt make sense that anyone should feel compelled to feel particularly sorry for her.Its not like Madonna is about supporting other artists anyway. The only time she supports them is when she knows shes above them (Britney, Nicki, etc).
Dorothy Gale 7,575
That's exactly how she's fighting back, though. By breaking taboos and stigmas that are marked in society as the norm, ones that apply to her. By doing the exact opposite of what she's supposedly perceived to be doing is her way of forming a resistance. its manipulative, extreme and may upset a lot of people, but its definitely working. Well, ageism is a form of discrimination so i don't see why its a mistake to compare it to racism and homophobia? Sorry, if ANYONE forced their tongue down someone's throat it'd be a stigma, because it's not consensual. Sorry that your fav is committed s-xual harassment. The one who wrote it didn't come off as aggressive either, so i don't see why his opinion caused a controversy. (its obviously because Gaga's name is mentioned next to Madonna's, which results in people acting in a narrow minded manner). If not Madonna, then who? she's really one of the very few currently active female pop stars who is experiencing this form of ageism.I don't see why supporting her in this state is considered to be coddling by you, just because she's earned her privilege and respect doesn't mean it should stop now, i don't think this whole theory of 'love and hate balance' is convincing at all, to be honest.Madonna supported mainstream and non mainstream artists throughout her entire career, whether its speaking out in favor of *** Riot or letting The Beastie Boys open for her during The Virgin Tour when they were unpopular and disliked on many levels.Gaga herself said that Madonna has been kind to her & given her advice, how would you miss that? smh
Jjang 2,262
Sorry, if ANYONE forced their tongue down someone's throat it'd be a stigma, because it's not consensual. Sorry that your fav is committed s-xual harassment. Why are you acting as if the ageism she has been facing for years now is based on that incident ? what kind of a lame, lazy and boring type of argument. Lets start with me saying that i'm not in favor of her doing that, but i can offer many other perspectives: Its a widely known fact that Madonna lets the artist she collaborates with on stage to know beforehand of what might happen, "be ready for anything" as Justin Timberlake stated from experience. And lets not act like the fact that its Drake with her doesn't reduce the size of the sin, same person that brings people on stage in order to make out with them, i believe he's very familiar to the concept. Something about a female turning the tables and using a form of objectification on a male, especially in front of so many people live & in such a raw way, feels like an empowerment, because we've seen this scenario happen in the opposite way and being turned into a laughing material. But whatever her intention was she obviously succeeded, look at all these people passionately discussing whats right and wrong in this society, it was that easy for her to manipulate so many.
