Creyk 17,817
Yeah, I noticed that she doesn't appear to be wearing a lot of makeup at all. It almost seems like she's just wearing eyeliner and lipstick but no foundation or liquid or powder makeup. Perhaps her team realized they needed to apply more makeup on her face after seeing this video. I mean, I think she looks just fine but they probably didn't. IKR? There's more nudity here than in the DWUW vid! SMH. Yeah she looks fine, but with the makeup she has that glamorous "popstar" look, I'm sure you know get it

Most pop music is "fluff", and so is her recent work. Nothing wrong with fluff when it's this cool
Giorno Giovanna 3,178
I agree, sometimes Gaga justs overproduces her work, with too many layers and stuff, mostly the raw things are the best of her, because they contain the raw, pure spirit that was meant to be in the moment it was created このジョルノジョヴァンナ夢がある

XoXoJoanneGaga 629
true, i guess i just didnt find it that cool after a few years of her progressing. its just a ltitle unfair, she did similar stuff like the ARTPOP film with inez and vinoodh and still gets mixed reviews from fans and some said it wasnt art. fluff can be art, but what makes it good art is quality. She got flak for the ARTPOP stuff cause she came across as pretentious and trying too hard. Gaga's thing has always been 90% style 10% substance, but before it seemed like she was in on the joke whereas with ARTPOP she became the butt of it by acting like she was some sort of martyr for true art while continuing to make pretty derivative dance-pop and dressing in weird costumes. Also she lost the concept and cohesion that her work used to have. The Inez Vinoodh film has some cool looks but it's really just her dressing up in the weirdest **** she could find just for the sake of it, while looking depressed for seemingly no reason. It's fluff just like most of her videos, but it loses a lot of the charm and cleverness that made her such a hit.

Could you elaborate on the concept of the film? Like I said, she's always been 90% style and 10% substance, so yes you could say that for her earlier work as well. My point was that you're making a distinction where there really isn't one. You say her early music is tame but her latest album is ARTPOP which aside from a couple of songs sounds like a direct sequel to The Fame. How are songs like Just Dance and Lovegame tame, for example, but not GUY, DWUW, or MANiCURE?Yes she's always been serious about her work but before she was self aware about the fact that she's a pop star and there was a cleverness to everything she did that suggested she was deliberately playing the audience. This isn't my opinion or anything it's just fact, this is one of the main things she was praised for by critics and fans alike during the early years. For most people that charm wore off as she continued to do the same shtick and make the same music while getting more and more pretentious and abstract about it. You can't blame people for rolling their eyes at an album with art in the title where the concept is supposedly "a reverse warholian expedition of putting art back in the front" and then it's the same largely superfluous dance pop she's been making for half a decade. If she wants to be a more serious and acclaimed artist that's great but she obviously has to make better, more serious music and have real concepts that connect with the work and aren't just convoluted hot air balloons that no one but her fans understand and aren't actually deep at all.I do expect her to start down that road with her next album though. You're trying to draw a line in the sand between her earlier work and her latest work and act like there's some notable leap in depth and importance, I don't know if it's limited musical exposure or what that makes some fans think that but I think the next album will make it clear that all her work so far has been pretty much the same thing, the only difference has been in the quality of execution and concepts as her career got less focused and more mismanaged over the years. Again I'm curious to know what the concept for the ARTPOP fashion film was
