Carly Rae Jepsen's new single "I Really Like You" soars into the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 (dated May 2) thanks to some help from her pal Justin Bieber.

Bieber and some famous friends, including Kendall Jenner, Ariana Grande, Lance Bass and Vine star Matthew Espinosa, created a lip-sync video for "I Really Like You," as an homage to the silly lo-fi webcam-style video Bieber made (co-starring Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale) to promote Jepsen's breakout single, "Call Me Maybe," back in February 2012.

The reach of Bieber's new clip helps "Really" reach a new Hot 100 peak, as it rises 83-39, an improvement from its previous high point of No. 48 when it debuted on the chart (dated March 21). The ascent gives Jepsen her third top 40 hit, following nine-week No. 1 smash "Call Me Maybe" and her collaboration with Owl City on "Good Time" (No. 8), both in 2012.

Streams for the new Bieber and friends video, which was released to YouTube on April 14, stir an 82 percent gain in U.S. plays for the song (in the week ending April 19, according to Nielsen Music) causing "Really" to re-enter the Streaming Songs chart at No. 19. Now, the majority (45 percent) of its plays come from the Bieber clip, as many of his fans were sharing and reposting it across YouTube. The previous week, the majority of the song's plays (57 percent) were from Spotify streams. All the buzz from the video also causes the poppy track to zoom 26-3 on the Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks chart.

Bieber's assist once again proves that the pop star still has the Midas touch to draw huge audiences to songs and artists with whom he associates. Just as the webcam video for "Call Me Maybe" was successful in lifting Jepsen and the song from obscurity to ubiquity, the new "I Really Like You" clip has helped the song reach new Hot 100 heights that even its official video didn't. That clip stars Tom Hanks (and is extremely high in production value, unlike Bieber's off-the-cuff creation) and accounts for 18 percent of its streams in the tracking week, as compared with the 45 percent owed to the viral Bieber video.

Why are they trying to make that basic song happen? They did the same with Call Me Maybe. She had to call them again I see :madge:

I do not mean to say this in a nasty way but I don't understand why they are putting so much money, time and publicity into her? Like what makes her so bankable compared to the other artists under the same management?
