One reason I dislike ARTPOP and Gags is because she ivented the most an noy ing phrase ever: music not the bling

And now every faget uses it as an excuse of flopping :green:

I'm unsure if all of the people who left those positive remarks stopped loving the album even after it has become clear that its sales and overall media reaction weren't positively comparable to her previous albums. Some may have loved ARTPOP before it "flopped" and later stopped loving it for trivial reasons, but it's also possible that some have loved ARTPOP before the numbers came in and still love it even more than a year has already passed since its release because they genuinely like the album.

Either way, I understand the intention of this thread because it's a reality within fandoms or stan culture that commercial and critical reception of an album do influence some, if not most, to 'change' their views regarding the source of reception itself. It's called the bandwagon effect. And it happens not only with Gaga but with everything else on Earth - from movies (See: Avengers, Frozen) to politics (See: all presidents / heads of state who suffered a declining popularity towards the end of their term) to sports and even religions. People do change their views to accommodate with what's popular, and it's the biggest flaw of the concept of democracy or the idea that the voice of the majority is synonymous to what's always 'right' or 'best'. A critic may not like ARTPOP, or a million people may not like it, but that doesn't mean I or anyone else shouldn't like it as well just because the perceived vocal majority didn't.

But believe whatever makes you feel better, dear.

Same thing goes to you, dear.

I wish I could easily access my quotes from back then. It was the climax of my stanning

I'm pretty much the only user who defends the album art so I'll use that as my receipt, also I liked the cover when it was revealed and I have the mp3s from the iTunes festival as proof.

And I always loved this cover from day 1, and I have proof because it was released on my birthday. October 7! I'll never forget.

I think a lot of it comes from the fact that this site is full of people that like to appear edgy and different. People on ATRL hate ARTPOP now because it underperformed. But people on here "hate" it because it's fun for some people to trash it and appear like they're too good for an album that was critically panned and a commercial underperfomance. Those types of people deal with that in a lot of ways. One of which is just the plain shady posts in ANY ARTPOP thread. The most common way is jumping to another artist, changing their avi, and claiming how much they like that certain artist more because their last era wasn't critically panned and considered successful which makes it less "embarrassing" to them. In reality though, these people still bop to Venus and know the choreography to GUY which they do so flamboyantly and passionately because know they know they love the album.

OH THE TEA, honey.

I love ARTPOP, and i still do. However, I didn't like the way how she released the songs. We heard most of the album WAY before it was released, with the Swinefest and snippets, etc. So the only explanation is that most people were already tired of the songs before the album release, not that ARTPOP was inferior. People were already craving for new music to be raped by their replay button one month after the swinefest:gaycat:

Firstly the title is inaccurate, it didn't flopped it had her second ever highest first week sales, it's aged well because critics now praise her for trying to be daring as well as still being one of the most debated about albums since it's release & we had 3 top 10 songs (2 if u discount dope). Plus not to mention the fact she was on par with the two "it" girls of 2013 miles & katy (I'm sure it outsold bangerz)

& I loved it since iTunes festival, wasn't too sure about Aura tbh when it leaked & it's like one of my least faves now, but ARTPOP was my fave at iTunes festival because of the dev hynes vibes in the live version then (I'm sure that comment was from me on atrl lol). I thought the rest were meh especially s-x dreams BC it was bare at iTunes festival, but when the album came out it was amazing& I still love it now it's her 3rd best for me personally.

Ugh thank you so much for this thread, seriously ARTPOP is sooo underrated even within this forum... I just can't. It will still be her best album for me till maybe LG5/6 tops it.

Its definitely true, the commercial success - or apparent lack thereof - totally tarnished the album. It's a shame really, because the music itself is great, and you can tell she went over and over to perfect every single song.

With that being said, I still love ARTPOP, and I continue to listen to it everyday. No other album has had the same longevity - for me at least.
