I'm not a fan cuz I hate she's popular...I'm not a fan because she sounds like she records her songs on her death bed... So lethargic and lazy...:lana:

i think you got a legitimate reason/argument here

just saying cause i feel a few in here try to change your mind or to justify something

while there is nothing to justify, you don't like her lethargic feeling while others absolutely love this about her

personally i like her demos/unreleased stuff and first album often more since these songs are usually way more upbeat and fast (which makes me think they pursue to keep this image of a sad girl up , and thus only show her grey sad side, while i am sure she got alot of fire and pepper inside of her, which doesnt fit the album themes)

Dat click grabbing title.

But yeah, Lana del Rey is the higher budget version of what she did as Lizzy Grant.

I just didn't like the way in which he stated his opinion. I agree with some of the Lana criticism. :laughga:

My two cents: I don't particularly care for Lana and her music anymore. To me, it is completely irrelevant whether somebody wrote their song at home on a creaky ass guitar or in the Abbey Road studio with Quincy Jones.

What got me off the Lana train was that she was so dismissive of things that should fall under the category of "rational thinking" in the 21st century. And that's also partially why music critics love her so much. She plays up the stereotype of the damsel in distress a lot, a huge chunk of her lyrics imply that she, a simple sad gal from Upstate New York, simply cannot exist without a man saving her from the world. This is like the ultimate wet dream of a white Rolling Stone music journalist who spends his day listening to AC/DC and Led Zeppelin and complaining about feminism on reddit.

I don't think that's a healthy image to portray. I fell in love with her when Video Games came out but her music and imagery just spiraled my depression out of control and I sat at home doing nothing, just listening to her and feeling sorry for myself. I was also upset at that leaked track directed towards Gaga and her new material just sounding kind of d--gged out and exhausted.

Anyone that bothers to listen to the music she made pre-Lana would know she clearly has a point of view. And yes, shes not a supreme vocalist from a technical standpoint. But I think theres more to liking someones voice than technical ability, i'd rather listen to Lana sing than hear Jennifer Hudsons over the top vocals and I say that not to be contrary but genuinely so. That being said, I think Lana is contrived and not even nearly as profound or as innovative as she or her die hards think she is. Shes not a machine made product but shes still pretty shallow and one dimensional in her own right. But shes cool nevertheless.

It's clear when someone is really talented. And such a person cannot be manufactured. Lana is one of them. She's got her own style that isn't generic, so how is she manufactured? I once saw an interview with UK singer Pixie Lott who claimed that she was the opposite of manufactured because she writes all her own songs. You'd think so, but she has a very popular style, genre of music and she made her fame singing very mainstream songs. The ironic thing is that once she dipped in popularity, 50% of her album ended up written for her, which proves my point. You can be talented at making generic music, but it's still generic. If you prove that you can make music with substance on top of that, that's different. Lana has never courted the mainstream to be popular. I have no doubt that her Summertime Sadness remix was a label decision don without her blessing. I think someone who makes the music they want even if it doesn't bring them big success (she's gone on record saying that she doesn't mind that Ultraviolence didn't sell as well) can't be manufactured. People are just so desperate to bring down someone who they deem as undeserving of fame that they write them off as fake. Save that for the bimbos of pop culture who get their work written for them and wouldn't know what quality was if it hit them round the head.
