Lana Del Rey Defies Music’s ‘New Algorithm Method': Is She Real Or Pop-Created?

Just because a song is upbeat and obnoxiously in your face does not mean it's better than something else. That is why you have all of these cheap hits on the Top 40. Uptown Funk does not have the soul or substance anything by Lana does. :lana:

Never said tempo or chart hits made a song listenable...her voice and style are all the same...she always seems tired when she makes all these songs...there's no variety tbqh.

There's no variety... yet all of her albums have sounded different.:lmao:

Of course her voice and style is "the same" since she is a distinct ARTIST.

Her voice is the s-xiest thing in music currently. There's nothing s-xy about Ariana's screeching imo. You just don't understand Lana or her music which is fine. :lana:

Lolol not reading. She wasn't crafted. She's always had her own gimmicks, style, sound etc if you know anything about her and followed or researched her during her Lizzy/pre-Lana Del Rey days you KNOW she is who she is

The common hipster/snob prejudice is the reverse - if it's catchy, upbeat, or popular it must be bad.

Of course when anti-pop is "in" they tie themselves in knots of hypocrisy, because then being (or appearing) slow, dark, under-produced, or authentic is what sells. But when it becomes popular hipsters have to hate it.

I stan for Gaga too whom makes catchy, upbeat music. If I was a real hipster I wouldn't listen to Lana since she is in fact popular. I don't go hopping into Beyonce threads saying all her music sounds the same and trying to discredit her appeal/artistry. So who exactly are you talking to? :awkney:

I don't know who he was referring to. I know me and you both have a wide musical taste.

My comment was a reflection on the article (which is about hipsters giving Lana a hard time) - just because I quoted a post doesn't mean I'm attacking you or coming to refute you.

I own Lana's first album, she's a good lyricist, but her albums would be better with more varied production. (Lana's 2014 album and Lorde are more guilty in this regard - and Lana's SS remix hit was what pushed my into finally buying BTD).

I don't think companies are able to create people.  They can influence them but if talent is not there, there isn't a lot they can do.  Lana is obviously a singer with a voice and a captivating persona.  What's fake about that?

And if they are going about choosing new artists based on Shazam hits, that's not a complex algorithm that's just popular opinion.

Anyway I like artists who deliberately create themselves into pop personas, and I recognize it takes a team to do so.  Does that mean Gaga is fake too?

Also I am just not aware... does Lana get attacked for being "fake" a lot?  Why would she be considered more fake than any other star?
