I support Bernie, I think. Hilary is not left and green enough. There should be more regulations, taxes on pollution, big healthcare reforms and big democratic reforms. The US would be way better off with a one-chamber system, ceremonial function for president and proportional representation (instead of winner takes it all). Also the donation system (for campaigns) in the US is unfair and university students pay way too much for their studies.

I really like what Bernie Sanders is supporting... but I'm not sure if he can beat Hillary. I also fear that Bernie's too liberal for the average American.

I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. I am something that you'll never understand.

You can visit wikipedia and look at what individual candidates stand for, and watch interviews on youtube.

Sadly Bernie isn't going to win... he's not that good at talking and image. And most Americans don't get the concept of a 'socialdemocrat' or don't get social politics at all. More people need to explain that you can stimulate people to work hard while at the same time giving them huge guarantees.

In fact, it's better to (for example) give a lot of free childcare and maternity leave, beccause this stimulates women to work. And having companies pay for a sick employee for a long time (1-2 years unlike a few weeks in the US), because this will make the labour participation higher and make the amount of people who are 'unable' to work (and therefore get welfare) way lower (100k -> 40k in my country).

High spending doesn't matter, as long as you have high taxes to oay back for it. And anyways, high social security and such is simply distributing, and actually makes the consumption grow, because poor people, unlike rich people, spend almost everything they earn immediately thus keeping the money in the economy.

Regulating Wall Street and banks has a positive effect long-term because it prevents huge financial crises, making up for the lost jobs by a lot.

Raising taxes on cigs, alcohol and fining environmentally harmful behaviour raises government earnings, and has a long-term positive effect because of lower healthcare spending and a happier population.

Bigger spending on education, R&D and innovation has a long-term positibe effect because it leads to more high-payed employers, and higher productivity. I could go on and on with this.

Thanks Luc I will go have a look so Bernie is standing for all the point you are talking right now?

I noticed that what we consider as socialist is seen as nearly communism in the US but the political system is very different so that make sense we can't compare them so much with Europe...

  • 2 months later...

i kinda liked the idea of trump going third party and hurting the GOP ut now i'm not really sure :neyde: i'd like hilary to be at least challenged in this thing

http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/248910-exclusive-trump-threatens-third-party-run

People would vote strategically. So if a few weeks before the polls it's like 50% Hillary - 30% Trump's party - 20% Bush it will probably turn into 50% Hillary - 40% Trump - 10% Bush. Could even lead to the fall of the Republican party.
