witchcocktor 1,438
I don't find this shirt to be funny in any way, and I could care less what the Internet says or doesn't say about it. No one I know in real life would find this the least bit funny, and that would include several people I know who have been raped, and their families and friends. Those rape victims would include those who were raped as children, date rate, d--g induced rape, and violent rape. And yes, it includes both males and females. I don't find it funny either. I dont think anyone I know would find this funny either, but they wouldn't act like it specifically hurts them and would cry over it in an internet forum. This guy is possibly a douchebag and that shirt is ****, but come on now, we all come from different paths in life. You can't expect people to be one hivemind and share all the same experiences. This person probably doesn't know anyone in his close circle that has dealt with rape, doesn't visit socially aware communities and probably spends time in forums and games whose communities advocate behavior that is '' make fun of everything, it's a joke, who cares, why so srs '' etc. His perception of what is acceptable to wear and what is funny is different than yours, but I'm pretty sure, and I want to believe, that we don't have a potential rapists in hand.He just went to a concert, took an edgy and unfunny tshirt because he tought that yeah maybe I should be dressing a bit more edgier since this is a concert n all with hip teenagers. That was probably his train of thought. All in all, the shirt is ****, but people make a pretty big deal about it imo. But it's understandable of you have dealt with getting s-xually abused yourself. Then I completely understand, but still disagree.

And yes, I do expect people to use their brains and act like decent human beings. When they don't, I expect for people to call them out on their offensive behavior or actions. His perception is not just different from mine, it is different from the majority of society. Do you really think the majority of people at this festival thought that was funny? A third of children are s-xually abused in some way and a fourth of all college students are raped. That means that almost everyone at that festival has a close friend or relative ( or they themselves) that have been a victim of childhood s-xual abuse or rape. That's why something like this is a big deal to society, and not just to a group of people on a small forum on the Internet.I don't care that this asshole is clueless. He made a bad choice and it offends the majority of people.

Jed 7,716
Yeah, if he read the comments here, he probably would. Can you blame him?feminism works for both genders. Men need it just as much as women do, especially gay men.
Admin 24,441
feminism works for both genders. Men need it just as much as women do, especially gay men.I know that. I'm just saying that bullying this guy without even knowing him or his story would not help him understand why his t-shirt is offensive. And if he read the comments here calling him a dickhead or wishing that he'd get raped, he'd probably call himself a "meninist". Social justice warriors are not helping rape victims, feminism and equality and they are the reason "meninism" is even a thing.

I just wish some people would understand that the radical tumblr feminists are just the worst of the bunch and don't represent the larger group. Much like we don't want the polarizing minority giving little monsters a bad name. Some people see these radical feminists and use it as ammunition to attack the concept in general and that's problematic.

What is wrong with calling dickhead - a dickhead? You seem more worried he'd take offence to that than about those who are offended by this print. You can call him whatever you want, it's not like you'd be able to say that to his face anyway. My point is, people like you are not helping the issue and are just producing more hate. Actually now that I think of it, I remember Gaga speaking about the exact same thing in an interview, I'll post it when I get home.

Haroon 49,685
Eeeeeek that's not okay I'm guessing he's one of those people that don't really understand or acknowledge the power of rape. or just use it casually in conversation to replace other words It's a pretty ignorant and immature way to come at it, and I'm betting he's getting his eyes opened a bit more after this picture spreading
Admin 24,441
I would say the same thing to his face. And how are people like you helping the cause? Please teach us. Doubt it, but if so, it's a shame that you would call somebody a dickhead without even trying to talk to them. Anyway, here's the video I was talking about, 15:47-16:47 (although I agree more with Toure than Gaga when they speak about gay people standing up for themselves towards the end, but in this particular situation, Gaga's words apply perfectly).
