Bebe 17,101
When you go to watch a Gaga video what do you expect? My guess is something like the spoiler above. While Gaga's videos differ from the perspective of storyline and aesthetic, the vast majority of Gaga's pop videos feature a heavily choreographed scene. I'm as much of a fan of this as I'm sure many others are, but do you think she might rely too much on this method? It makes her videos somewhat predictable.Madonna has videos like Vogue, but also videos like Like a Prayer and Frozen.Rihanna has videos like Umbrella, but also has videos like We Found Love and Stay.Michael has videos like Thriller, but also has videos like Man in The Mirror and Earth Song.Britney has videos like Slave 4 U, but also has videos like Everytime and Lucky.Kylie has videos like Can't Get You Outta My Head, but also has videos like Confide in Me and Come into My World.Plenty of songs have memorable videos without dance scenes. Björk's video Pagan Poetry is considered one of the best music videos of all time, M.I.A's video for Bad Girlz was highly praised, 212 by Azealia Banks launched her career and recently Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball video became one of the most highly viewed and discussed music videos on the internet. So do you think Gaga's videos have become too predictable with her dance scenes? Would you like her to try and create a high caliber music video without choreography? Or do you love Gaga's dance scenes to much to let them go? Paper Gangsta 6,693
No, these scenes are what makes them epic
Bebe 17,101
No, these scenes are what makes them epicI love those scenes as much as the next person, but an edgy "epic" video without the need for choreography would be cool too.

Weasel 12,525
Well we have Just Dance, Eh Eh, Beatiful Dirty Rich, EOG and I don't think Paparazzi has a big dance scene either.
mister max 18,480
explain formulaic please Buy ARTPOP on itunes or smth?
Head Empty 25,272
Yea, the same goes for a lot of songs. There's so much to explore in these fields, so I really hope she puts some creative thought into this aspect of structuring and creating. It would open a lot of doors :)
Swan Heart 7,382
Gaga's videos (along with Bjork's) are probably the best out there.. She puts a lot of effort in every one of them, I don't think we have something to complain about.. But I get your point. I won't mind something more different then the usual.. The 'Pagan Poetry' video and the song song itself are such masterpieces, I think Gaga can pull off something like that - simple but powerful and edgy, I will be SLAYED, just imagine.... They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.

Bebe 17,101
explain formulaic please"Produced in accordance with a mechanically followed rule or style" In Gaga's case, short scenes in the beginning setting out storyline followed by highly choreographed dance scenes. (Bad Romance, sold into s-x slavery - big dance scene - end Born This Way, intro about birth of new race - big dance scene - end Marry The Night, Gaga in hospital and dropped from Def Jam - big dance scene -end Applause, Gaga in various performances and costumes, turns into swan - big dance scene- end) Well we have Just Dance, Eh Eh, Beatiful Dirty Rich, EOG and I don't think Paparazzi has a big dance scene either. Yeah but it's been a while...That's basically The Fame and TEOG. The rest of TFM, BTW, ARTPOP are highly choreographed dance scenes. That's why I said "majority of her songs" and not all. Tropico 4,145
The dance scenes are indeed amazing but yes, we can expect them in almost every video. It's because Interscope aren't willing to take a chance to make something like Speechless a single. If they were, we'd get videos without dance scenes. LG6 probably won't have as much dance music so we can expect some videos without the huge dance scene. I don't mind tho. The choreo always makes it really cool. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢
Robinladen 1,528
Yeah, I think with a song like Yoü and I she should had tried something different. And with Marry The Night you had so many amazing scenes and once the music starts playing you just have her dancing in a studio for the biggest part. With a song like Applause I do get that you need choreo, but it's really not necessary for each song.In The Fame Monster era everybody always loved the choreo, but I agree that it became too predictable. With the scenes we got from Do What You Want it does look like it doesn't have a big dance scene, so perhaps she does want to try it for a video. Watching performances of You and I made me think of this topic.I mean... This isn't a terrible performance. But it seems unnecessary and a little out of place. I also thought about DWUW. From the little we got we saw there was some dancing, but nothing really highly choreographed.
Bloody 64,631
Yes you're right. They always choose dance songs as singles instead of ballads, so we expect dance moves (in the chorus especially).I really like it, but it would be good if she did something different in the future.
