Supersonic 49,376
B'Day, an album that sold 7 million copies worldwide is considered underperforming? Good f*cking bye.
GypsyPrince 237
but mariah she kept getting #1s till Glitter But look where she is now. Gaga could've continued upwards since TFM if not for several poor decisions, but nonetheless, it doesn't mean her career is "ruined" like all the haters are dramatising it to be. soundwave 193
The only reason ARTPOP under performed was because of the impossibly high standard set by Born This Way's sales. Now that ARTPOP has under performed, people won't be so shocked.

hmm 979
Ignoring commercial success; if she ever had an American Life it would be the best moment of her career, so I'm definitely hoping she has one soon
Supersonic 49,376
The only reason ARTPOP under performed was because of the impossibly high standard set by Born This Way's sales. Now that ARTPOP has under performed, people won't be so shocked.Let's be honest, Gaga is still held to a pretty high standard. Look at the sales of the current pop girls, anything above 400,000 is considered a huge success. It's like the 750,000 of ARTPOP have set the tone of what now to expect for a female performer to sell. I see people talking about 100k and 200k BENCHMARKS (!!!!) when talking about Rebel Heart. soundwave 193
don't forget the utterly horrible management the album like always on $1500000..... Yes, the horrible management. But somehow, ARTPOP still managed to perform at the same level (and better, in some cases) than the usual "Pop girl" standard. Everyone held Gaga to her own standard, and in her words, "it's like because [she's] Lady Gaga, people think the music industry is back to where it was in the seventies"
Creyk 17,825
no because ARTPOP flopped because her manager abandoned ha and she got depressed. It's unlikely that that will happen again so noBesides, she can't afford it. It's been 4 years since she had a real hit. One more underperformance and she's gone forever and radio will never play her new songs only some of her old hits

hmm 979
That song (and in turn, the album), in my opinion, deservingly under performed. The album to me is amazing; including rejection of Hollywood ideals and criticism of American politics, alongside personal songs referencing the death of her mother - plus Mirwais' productions are amazing. Add the fantastic videos to it; especially the (uncensored) version of the title track and Die Another Day; it's by far my favourite Madonna album
Tropico 4,145
the first few singles didn't really smashmarking you for when she underperformsBut Beyonce has never really been a singles artist. Besides maybe Sasha Fierce era. Albums and tours are really her thing. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢
