Yanko 9,860
That's rock'n'roll love, i found it pretty cool how she sang it. In general Gaga is a good writer, she has many songs with clever lyrics: Marry the Night, Applause, Bad Romance, Poker Face, TEOG, Beautiful, Dirty Rich ( so ironic ), Paper Gangsta, Venus is very Bowie, Americano, Scheiße - feminist lyrics packed in electro song. In the end Gagas songs are dance pop but have personality and also often a meaning and cool metaphors.
Bear 7,515
I'd agree with you, she even said sometimes she cares more about the sound and flow of the lyrics than the context or how much they make sense. She has got some bad lyrics though, but I'd assume they are really obvious bad lyrics in a cheesy fun way. Yanko 9,860
Gaga is an amazing song writer. The lyrics of Speechless are absolutely genius. She tells a story, but not so directly. Her words paint a beautiful picture. The lyrics of Speechless tell us of the dysfunctional relationship with the subject. It's great. And then we have Teeth. That song is the longest and best metaphor I've ever heard. Especially when we relate it to the feat of truth. Wow. I'm over fans bringing up lyrics from boys Boys Boys and Dontella and ignoring other masterpeice. "Fans" only bringing up her worst lyrics. Smh. well this thread is about her alleged bad lyrics so ofc people wont talk about you and i and edge of glory but almost everyone mentioned her great lyrics so not sure who ur trying to shade

Miranda Sings 1,705
I enjoy Gaga's lyrics for the most part. She definitely has some duds, but a lot of them are really great. I think her true talent as a songwriter is with melodies. Say what you want about the words she's singing, but you'll be singing along. The girl knows how to write a catchy chorus. People hate on Donatella's lyrics, even realizing its supposed to be over the top silly and making fun of itself, but never really explain what's wrong with them. It's one thing to just find a phrase awkward sounding or cringey, but... at least say that rather than write them off as bad (not saying you are personally ) Also, I think those lyrics from Applause reveal so much about Gaga's mental state during the ARTPOP era, and they are actually clever in doing so . I don't see what's wrong with them at all.. Finally, if you are trying to a--lye the depth, effectiveness, or whattever of the lyrics I think its important to consider intent if its available to you Not every song is written with the intent of having even comprehensible lyrics at the forefront. Some of the best songs ever don't have any deeper meaning at all and are simply used linguistically for their flow to create sounds. One of my favorite producers writes lyrics based on Assonance and Consonance in the Japanese language entirely, then builds a theme around them. Some songs don't even fully translate and contain onomatopoeia-like phrases that are used simply for the sonic component. Japanese is a little bit different though because it is a syllabic language. Individual words and how you pronounce them hold less connotation than the syllables that make up the words and how you stress a syllable that is possibly only 1/8th of a word can have more emotion in it than the word itself often times. But I digress, the intent of the song is important to note. 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

Quark 7,098
But Picasso is not a pop music artist. Picasso was a painter. Not many paintings connect with people on an emotional level, but music does. Many people look at visual arts for aesthetic appeal. People today listen to pop music for sonic pleasure and connection to lyrics. Gaga has mastered the musicality, but her lyrics have become increasingly confusing.Metaphoric and creative lyrics are great, but pop music listeners don't want to pick through lyrics with a fine-tooth comb to extract a meaning. They want something that will tell a story, evoke emotion, or connect with them immediately. Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, Tove Lo and Hozier all had HUGE smashes last year because their lyrics made an instant connection with someone. All of their hits had a deep meaning behind them, but their lyrics are flexible enough to relate to listeners on another level. That's what makes the difference between Tove Lo's "Habits" and Lady Gaga's "Mary Jane Holland," for example. The thing is that Gaga is not just a pop star. I know Gaga keeps saying this, but she is truly an artist. She is mainstream but also underground. She writes for the masses but also for herself. Music is not just about worrying about some pop fans. Music is about expressing yourself in a unique creative way.

Some of her lyrics turn out to be bad but they are always something new and interesting. Not recycled lyrics
